If you don’t have a place to stay yet check out Casa Capsa. Stayed there when I got married!

The thing you have to eat is sarmale-stuffed cabbage leaves. Mici is good esp if you get a locally made mustard. For dessert if you can get fresh made papanasi (kind of like a gourmet donut hole) it’s worth it

Bucharest is big in parks and malls. Cismigiu near the old town is really charming. If for some reason you find yourself in Dristor Park Lake is great.

If you go to Brasov around your trip to BranLa bela muzica is super good. The old town in Brasov is a really great place to just meander.

Ok for food you can try: caru cu bere (a little touristy), cuptorul cu lemme is good and authentic, get mini amandinas from Georgy’s (or any corner bakery). For used books try anticariat unu. If you do the art museum start at the top floor and work your way down bc the best stuff is at the top

Would be pretty cool to treats posh a temperate rainforest on the west coast of Ireland. You could do it for the local fora and fauna or you could do it for the druids.

Fell down a rabbit hole on big bodies and one of them looks like my old landlord

Can’t stop thinking about the big bodies. They were powerful people ritually killed. Imagine you’re some pre Christian Irish king wearing gold to symbolize your power over the sun and suddenly it rains for a week and then a Druid comes and murders you.

BOG not big. They were not very big!

The big bodies yes. They were in enclosed spaces that you very purposefully had to enter and they were silent. There were other bodies and parts-a skull that had been blown in by a halberd-that were sort of out in the open in a way I did not approve of.

No this works because it’s a prequel when they all drive on leaded gasoline and obliterated their brains. By the time they met as adults no one had a prefrontal cortex anymore.

Me before seeing the book of kells: this feels pretty touristy, not sure I want to pay to see a manuscript
Me seeing the book of kells for like 25 minutes and not moving: wow, 17 lines in one column. That’s gotta be like 200 sheep for the entire gospel!

I’m very excited to check it out. I’ve been interested in the Chester Beatty ever since I took a course on Islamic codicology in grad school. My 5yo is looking forward to all the libraries!
