To get a book published, it reeeeeally helps to have a platform. A social account with massive following, a hit podcast, a celebrity role in which you can talk about the book and get people to buy it. Great writers who don't have it have a hard time getting deals, terrible writers sometimes do...

How much "loss" do fire departments report annually? Police? The armed forces? Roads? Schools? Solid waste collection? Wastewater treatment? Public health agencies?

How come they keep spelling ā€œopenā€ wrong?

Does that street look closed to you? Only if you’re a car… and presumably that’s the real problem. #UrbanTruth

Valid point!!
Literally found my husband at the gym, but it wasn’t easy.
Love men who take care of themselves!

Was I possibly influenced in my taste in men by all the queer friends I’ve had since childhood? Absolutely! šŸ˜‰

It's disappointing that the BC Education Minister dismissed findings that public education funding is declining as a share of GDP while funding for private schools holds steady

Corb Lund: Facts dispute industry claims on coal mining Opinion:

"We are being asked to accept permanent environmental damage, long‑term public liability and water risks that can't be engineered away, all to support an industry in structural decline that contributes little in royalties and is largely owned by foreign investors."You tell 'em,@corblund.bsky.social.

i suspect a common driver of both of those could be never-before-seen levels of marketing $$$ and a media environment dominated by billionaires' and their interests

The oil industry is making billions from the Iran war—it should be taxed - CCPA The current windfall could be Canadian oil's final boom—so the proceeds must be reinvested into economic diversification and industrial planning

A 75% excess profits tax, like we did in WW2, would have generated $680 million this week.

That would have been enough to get started on 50,000 new public EV charging ports. That would double the existing network.

The second way to beat the profiteers is to tax excess profits.

We did it in 1940 and again in 2022. When the private sector is exploiting a crisis to make unreasonable profits, we should tax it and spend that money to help Canadians weather the crisis.

Been marking final papers all day and it’s been rough. I can’t prove they’re using generative AI, but I’ve never had so many final assignments that sounded so eerie.
Lack of strong arguments, the same sources repeatedly re-used, and paragraphs that are just word salads.

Art majors using AI for ideas or research is just incomprehensible to me and I think the charade of ā€˜ethical AI usage’ is robbing these young people of key aspects of their intellectual and creative development.

Why the Rich Should Get Free Public Childcare Too Critics see Zohran Mamdani’s inclusion of the wealthy in his new free public childcare initiative as a flaw. It’s actually an integral part of the policy’s design, rooted in the fact that universal programs are far more enduring than means-tested ones.

Urgent need for a windfall profits tax on oil and gas How to prevent the fossil fuels corporations from making a killing on this illegal war, and put the revenues to better use

...which is precisely why the Canadian government instituted an excess profits tax in the Second World War.

War profiteering is always the way, unless policy acts to prevent it.

My case for a windfall profits tax is here: open.substack.com/pub/sethdkle...

No one is suggesting that Canada's oil and gas producers are the "architects" of the current war (as you write), but they are most certainly beneficiaries.

As Jim Stanford notes, nothing has happened to increase Canadian production costs (notwithstanding what is occurring in the Mid East)...

Print media. Post some longer posts of Donald Trump speeches. Reading what he says in print shows how brain damaged he has become.

Don't change a word, just show the readers his decaying brain farts in print. More than a line or 2 and less than the full word vomit speech

As we've previously shown, these schools are predominantly religious, including ones that teach creationism and exclude LGBTQ2S+ students/staff.

We've long called for this funding to be cut and rolled back into the struggling public school system. www.bchumanist.ca/public_educa...

You might personally choose not to use AI, but you might not have a choice as to whether your team or office uses it. If your organization is using AI to write alt text, always review it to make sure it's accurate and appropriate. AI won't necessarily understand how or why an image is being used.

I don’t get it.
It looks so bad. But people are writing like it was some innovative thing he did.

What did I not get?
I must be too old.
