The head and upper torso of a foul looking undead goblinoid creature, with only one beady yellow eye and decaying grayish green skin. It's hands press down on a bank of blackened earth as it leans, mouth a gape, drowl dripping from its crooked teeth. There is a text overlay saying TableTalk Tuesdays and the Twitch logo alongside text saying THEKILLERBITS

So in last night's DnD game our party started following their new "friend" deeper into the caves of this creepy island. What else lies before them as we carry on building out this little dungeon crawl - www.twitch.tv/thekillerbits

I've been running gdcparties.com for a few years now. Some shitty company BlueberryAI decided they'd just take all the source code for the work I've done and reskin it, advertising it as their own. Jokes on them...it was still linked to my events spreadsheet, and now their website looks like this 😉

The House of Lords Digital & Communications Committee just published their report on AI, copyright & the creative industries, and their conclusions could not be clearer.

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

PERSONAL NEWS: After 13 years working as a (legendary) video producer for @eurogamer.bsky.social I have been made redundant in the recent Gamer Network cuts. I loved that job so much (probably too much) and I will miss the people and the opportunities it gave me, but I'm not ready to give up yet!

A screenshot of an email from an ad agency to Evil Hat Marketing:

Hey Evil Hat team,

Promised this is the last time you’ll hear from me.

We are wrapping up generating content on the house. The AI studio is starting to get fully booked with our paying clients, and I have strict orders to stop promoting this come the weekend.

I figured Evil Hat might as well get some work out of us at no cost while you can.

Want in before we close it up?

Best,
[redacted]

And then our reply:

Hi [redacted],

We will never use AI for our games or for our marketing. It's toxic to our customer audience and it's an ethical violation of the hard work put in by the human artists we hire to illustrate our books and the human writers who design our games.

In short, it's not "free work" it's theft.

Feel free to take me off your mailing list. Hope you turn around your business model because frankly, your current approach sucks shit.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
Watched by Branson Reese 28 Apr 2022

Abrams isn't a man so much as he's an avatar of cultural entropy. If you make something popular enough eventually you will die or sell it off and and a person in thick rimmed glasses whose main artistic vision is that he loves to have meetings will take it and sandblast it until it's nothing. I hate to see this happen here but maybe it's good that this happened. Maybe every franchise should collapse into a version of itself that makes shareholders nod and shake each others' hands. We should learn to speak in a language that rich people who don't dream can't comprehend.

Obviously this is limited to all the nerdy folks in my community but I thought it was an interesting lil' tidbit I'd notice about where the hobby is as we roll into 2026. (4/4)

...I've had dozens of people get in touch about joining in. And I've genuinely struggled to narrow down the list to just 4 or 5 players.

This time around I've only had a few people get in touch. And none of them are brand new players this time. (3/4)

Or simply people have just lost interest in the new rule sets I'm not sure.

But for the last 4 or 5 years I have been running a game for folk in the community and with every new arc I have opened up the table for new players to join. And, pretty consistently, every arc... (2/4)

So, I'm starting to think there has definitely been a cooling off in overall interest in #DnD over the last year or so. Whether that is to do with folk drifting away from the game since the OGL debacle, all the new high profile games that came out last year (like Daggerheart & Draw Steel)... (1/4)

A Statement from the Red Hook Founders

When we founded Red Hook, our goal was to support ourselves while making a game of our own dreams. Simple to describe, but not easy. We knew the difficulty, of course, because we had previously worked on other projects at other companies. We had seen our share of canceled games, failed games, or games that were good but couldn’t find a large audience.

10 years ago, on Jan 19th, 2016, Darkest Dungeon was “completed” and released as 1.0.

It was immediately clear that we had bottled lightning. Back in the pre-release days, we didn’t dare to entertain the fantasy that our work would resonate to the extent it has, or find such a passionate and creative audience. But it did.

As we reflect upon this 10 year run (11 if you include early access), the fullness of time has made us realize that connecting with you, the audience, proved to be one of the most fulfilling and thrilling parts of the entire dungeon crawl. Thanks to you and your perseverance, the game wasn’t just flash in the pan.

This game about resilience showed its own resilience. A hardscrabble and mean game about making the best of a bad situation created an incredibly good situation for us and the development team.

We are so grateful for everyone who has ever engaged with Darkest Dungeon over the years - whether by playing, making art, filming let’s plays and guides, getting yourself tattooed, writing, posting, commenting, and of course critiquing. (And yes, we love reading about the occasional party wipe due to spiders. Patently unfair, but always funny.)

Whether you have been with us since the days of Kickstarter or just completed the tutorial yesterday (hopefully Reynauld and Dismas both survived), we are happy you are here. And stay tuned - we're not out of the dungeon yet.

This expedition, at least, promises success. –The Ancestor
