having written about how banning web scrapers from a code forge i host made it usable again and saved ~60€/y in power bill, let me tell you:

you cannot fathom the offloaded cost of GenAI on small web hosts. it is a veritable distributed denial of service to the entire web. Every web admin sees it.

Popped into the comments to ask the same question. It's much harder to get digital copies signed by the devs/artists ;)

What else do you expect from the studio that brought us the game about a circus-performer-turned-psychic-trainee saving the world one brain at a time? And its sequel?!
Lemmings one and all!

So who gets left holding the bill in this game of financial musical chairs when the music inevitably stops?

Probably a mental health safety mechanism for players. Full on copium for the soul to not have to think about how you've lost something that could have been great. (Though obviously less healthy for the developers who gave up years to not release a product)

I feel the same about click-baity article titles.

Wishlisted. Any chance this title takes place in the, uh, "Echo-verse", too?

Well that was embarrassing. I was playing a game on PC with a PS5 controller and got an alert that said I had just purchased a game and signed up for a year of PS Plus.

Apparently the controller was still paired with the console and I had gone on a mini-shopping spree while I was playing Silksong.

Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me?
Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.

Just heard about this. Sounds like almost everyone was let go and the game was pulled from app stores? Had a bunch of friends and colleagues that worked on Mythwalker. 😟

Hope you and yours (including the fuzzy family members) are doing well. Admittedly it's been a bumpy road this year (most years?), but know that we're still looking forward to your next release.

As a systems designer/programmer this is quite relatable.

I once made the framework for a metroidvania with varying jump tech, wall grab/sliding, and a fun little boomerang-shield primary weapon in Unity. And then promptly shuttered the project when it came time to create any actual content.

Looking forward to iteration on the node system. Right now there's a bit of a disconnect between being Noah and traversing the map, but I feel like there's a real opportunity here to make it feel like Noah navigating the city on his bike. Moving from one soul in need to the next.

Why have two marshmallows later when you can have one _right now_.

Computers used to scream every time they connected to the Internet. They knew. They tried to warn us. We did not listen.

Thanks to the Palia team for the nod to Free Realms! As a former FR designer and forever fan, I appreciate anything that keeps its memory alive.

And the build (less GPU) has been ordered.

I always build two at a time (one for me, one for the missus) so the sticker shock will probably last until the build is complete, but hopefully it'll be "the good kind of hurt" when it's all said and done.

Not the outcome we were hoping for but a respectable outcome for a game that was such a significant departure from your previous title. Looking forward to the release (or early access if you decide to go that route).

Brilliant work!
Also love how the editing here makes the dialogue feel intense yet natural. It doesn't follow the "line, delay, response, delay, response" conversations that inhabit many other RPGs.

Coincidentally I had been using pcpartpicker to create the build but never considered checking out their community builds. Thanks for the reminder!

So is now just an awful time to build a shiny new gaming/gamedev pc? Looks like a confluence of scarcity and fear of scarcity/tariffs that seem to be ruining my day.

Can anyone suggest any solid builds?
