When I talk about service, it’s not theory. I grew up watching it. This is my dad in Korea. His service, like so many others’, shaped how I understand commitment. On Veterans Day, I’m grateful for all who’ve worn the uniform and for the example they set. We honor them with thanks and with action.

SNAP benefits in North Carolina will be paused on Nov. 1: Here's what this means If the federal government shutdown continues, a federal food program for low-income households will be paused, affecting more than 1 million in North Carolina.

Republicans’ dysfunction has consequences. It’s day 29 of the government shutdown, and 1.5 million North Carolinians are at risk of losing their SNAP benefits. That’s 13% of our state paying the price for Washington’s chaos.

My years as a doctor taught me to listen first, understand the problem, then find solutions. That’s how I’ll serve in Congress, and it’s how I’ll fight for Western North Carolina, with leadership rooted in service, not politics.

Polk Lore

I was fortunate to talk with James Hrynyshyn on his podcast, Polk Lore. We spoke about the state of health care in America, the current shutdown of the federal government, and my candidacy for Congress in NC-11. Listen to it now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube! polklore.com

Why NC is cutting Medicaid, what’s affected, and who could lose coverage The state cut payments to medical providers and ended Medicaid coverage of popular drugs such as Wegovy for weight loss.

We have to organize. These cuts will destroy jobs and ultimately cost lives. Together, we can fight back.

The NCGA hasn't been able to do the one job they have-pass a budget. Instead, they have agreed to let the cuts begin while they take a break until the end of October. As a doctor who led a health center, I balanced budgets while expanding services to meet our community's needs.

Healthcare cuts will mean less access and fewer nurses, therapists, and doctors. The cuts to our healthcare system have only just begun. How have our elected officials responded? The Federal Government is controlled by Republicans; all they have done is shut down our government.

Fragile N.C. Residents Lose Medicaid Support for Food and Housing

Food, housing, and healthcare costs are exploding in WNC because Republicans cut programs like this that saved lives and saved money. I’m running because I know what happens when care ends, and I won’t stand by while my neighbors are left behind.

One year after Hurricane Helene, too many of us in Western NC are still living with the wreckage. We grieve the more than 100 lives lost and stand with families still picking up the pieces. Together, we’ll work until every community is whole again. #NCstrong #NC11
