No-one was more surprised than me, but luckily I had camera in hand!

Well, Mar-a-Lago was just up the road. Draw your own conclusions....

First Malachite #Beetle of the year! From the field below our village yesterday evening. Another addition to my #ButtercupBug collection

I sincerely hope there's a naughty step for #BirdoftheDay admins too. You're on it. At least half an hour for that one.
Thanks Alan, I think I must have spent the entire winter snapping Blue Tits. You’d think by now they would have learned to smile at me…
👍
Thanks Rob - I think Blue Tits deserve some kind of award as most #BirdoftheDay friendly!
Me too! So much character in some of those little birds...
Thanks Rina!
Very nicely done.
First grasshopper of the year! (and second #Buttercupbug).

Amazing shot!
"You want to share my tasty seed? You'll have to catch me first..." This Blue Tit really doesn't look the sharing type, but I hope @robcrank68.bsky.social accepts it for his #ComeEatWithMe theme for #BirdoftheDay..

🎼🎼🎼🎹🎹!
Well said!
Thanks Alan. PS I'm holding my Z bird in reserve for when you get to the rest of the alphabet....
Thanks!
That was a lot of fun, Rina. Thank you so much for helping to spread the joy of butterflies!
Nice object!
#ABCD you say? How about A Bubble Covered Duck? This Pochard (in transitional plumage) was having a wild old time down at our local pond, splashing its little tail off. For #BirdoftheDay by @alan678.bsky.social

For the #DucksOutofWater theme by @alan678.bsky.social for today's #BirdoftheDay here's a Red-Crested Pochard not looking terribly pleased at the arrival of an impertinent photographer.
Don't worry fr, my bark is worse than my bite....😇
I can't let Rina's #ButterflyWeek go by without posting one of their Lepidoptera cousins: a moth. Moths are often tiny, hard to spot but just as beautiful as butterflies in their colours and patterns. Here's one of my favourites: the Mint Moth. @rina2012.bsky.social
Thank you!
Thanks coco!
Thanks!
