See you on twitch tonight at 9:00PM Est! #vhs
Yesterday: shorts and flip flops because it was 75
Today: shorts and flip flops because I already committed
Dang Ohio weather
Happy Taco Tuesday!
I saw this thing at the thrifts over the weekend. I'm not sure that it's actually useful, but I like where their head is at
What in the heck is Wizard of Oz on Ice?
Yeah! I will probably put it on YouTube/archive.org later this week
Streaming tonight: trueSpace 4.0 Character Modeling VHS.
in 1998 someone at Caligari left the trueSpace 4.0 source code sitting on a public FTP server. A piracy group found it and released it.
The software is on the Internet Archive. This VHS is not. Tonight we find out what's on it.
I see people ask a lot about how to digitize old VHS and family recordings.
Check your local library! This is in Nashville but a lot of libraries have similar programs
I respect people getting set up to digitize, but if you only have a few items go somewhere that's already got it dialed in
Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot. 2 Hours.
Is this raw footage? A highlight reel? Did someone bring a camcorder and just… film it? Was this sold at an event?
I have so many questions.
Is there anything even remotely similar to Sobe on the market today?
West Virginia temp tag. Totally normal. Nothing to see here.
These ministry tapes are their own little corner of VHS culture and I love them.
Post-Cold War panic. Biblical prophecy. St. Peter's Basilica floating in space on the cover. 1994 was something else.
I made ribs.
Daylight savings means it's time to watch time travel movies!
Back to the Future is the obvious call (it's my favorite) but "be excellent to each other" is the message the world needs right now.
There's no hope for me. Those that get it will appreciate the endeavor!
50 states. 50 tapes.
Each one has to have a local call sign on it or it doesn't count. Canada and other countries are fair game too.
P.O. Box is open.
Tag whoever has a dusty box of VHS tapes.
Bummed The Last Drive-In is over. Joe Bob's closing message was about filmmakers and that the world needs more horror hosts. Felt like it applied to anyone keeping something weird alive.
What I heard was: "90s Craig, keep playing the tapes. The world needs you"
The drive in will never die. Amen. #MutantFam
I've already seen a few graded tapes pop up. I've considered starting my own grading service.
You send me a tape.
If it's still sealed I open it.
If it's moldy I clean it.
I send it back with a note that says
"Certified playable by 90s Craig. Enjoy watching your tape!
Series finale of The Last Drive In tonight. I thought the drive in would never die 😢
VHS is having a moment in the press. Great. Just don't let WATA find out.
The sleeve says Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein. But someone recorded over it and wrote "John C Newlan" on the tape. Then Vincent Price teaches you how to use a 3D camera.
9PM ET on twitch
Found on an old VHS tape. 1999 commercial for a Columbus musical that sounds like it was named by a youth pastor.

“PG-17” - so not for kids.
“Parents Approved” - so for kids?
“Unrated” - so we’re just making things up now?
Is this a family movie night tape…
or a “wait until the kids are asleep” tape?
I genuinely cannot tell who this was for.
Happy Hump Day! And yes, before anyone says it, I already know what day it is. That camel does not need to show up in my DMs again.
“Omelette du fromage."
What cartoon quote is permanently stuck in your head?
#Nostalgia
Add this to the list of things I didn't know I needed but now I need immediately
Now there's an idea. I should make popcorn!
