Watched the flag go up over Ft Sumter this morning

Mansueto is a fan of modern design, and more fully considering design while building my own firm was inspired by my time there.
Even if you're not interested in the stock, more entrepreneurs should study Mansueto's strategy.
(Disclosure: I and KNA Capital clients own shares of Morningstar)
One of my favorite Morningstar pieces of trivia is that it has its own font. The point in having its own font was to know when you were reading a Morningstar publication.
It was to fun to revisit my old employer where I cut my teeth in economic moat analysis.
$MORN remains overlooked as a publicly-traded company, with only 3 analysts covering it. Some of that is due to limited liquidity related to Mansueto's large holding.

Thank you!
Today's Flyover Stocks post is a departure from normal topics, but it's a topic I wanted to discuss as I think mid-life personal finance is a sadly overlooked space. I hope this helps you or someone you know.

Today’s post discusses how the thesis behind complex businesses can actually be simple. The opposite can also be true.

Had a lovely trip with the family to Arizona over break. Such a cool landscape.
Back to Cincinnati and 30s, clouds, and rain…
My Flyover Stocks profile of $HWKN has far and away been the most popular profile. I've dropped the paywall on it. Enjoy!

Needs a killer app. Beautiful product, though, and you can begin to see future use cases.
Form factor is still unwieldy, like the Oculus 2. Eventually it’ll slim and become more usable.
A pleasure to sponsor my daughter’s Nutcracker performance. Big role for her this year!
Today I published the last of a six-part series on economic moats. Part VI discusses the role management plays in a company’s moat.

Two stages of writing:
1) This shouldn't take too long
2) Oh no
The kids like the Calm sleep stories…Apologies to the business podcast that was #6 this year.
The goal of a long-term investor is to treat good and bad performance with equanimity. So much easier said than done, but that is the state that will keep you from making big mistakes on both ends. No dancing, but also no despair.
Decided to take my first road trip in an EV - during Thanksgiving weekend - and made a point to stop at Buccees whenever we had to charge as there were plenty of diversions, food, places to walk, and clean bathrooms.
As EVs take a slow but steady share of new car sales, it will mean declining relevance of urban gas stations (independents first), but increasing relevance of off-highway fueling stations with amenities catered to longer charging sessions.
