You may remember these fellers from the other day. Well, a central mechanic of my game is changing them into different forms with masks.
Think of it as Armor Evolution from Digimon 02 mixed with the masks (duh) from Majora's Mask, if you're familiar with either work.

Not like, directly. Probably some shared ancestry but Shellder can't really become either of these or vice versa. I like the whole aesthetic that Shellder has going on so they're def inspired by that, also helps that gen 2 mons with purely black bodies are economical for color-usage haha

I wanted to try my hand at the whole gender difference thing. Here are some pheasant mons where the males display their bright colors to ward off foes while the females prefer a more stealthy, camo approach.

I love me a weird single-stage mon, and Gen 2 is full of those (at the time)! The joke with this guy is that it's based on those Groucho Marx glasses, as well as the enemy of the same name from Mother 1. As such it'd give out a lot of EXP, like a Chansey or Audino
