It’s really creepy inside the Reptile House. For all you can tell, they just let all the snakes and lizards out on a Friday decades ago and locked the doors. Most of the structure for exhibits is still intact.

Beautiful building on the exterior, overdue for maintenance.

In a First for the U.S., Renewables Generate More Power Than Natural Gas In March, for the first time, renewables supplied more power to the U.S. than natural gas, a milestone in the transition to clean power. However, rising power demand is complicating the shift away from fossil fuels by extending the lives of many aging coal power plants.

In a first last month, renewables supplied more power to the U.S. than natural gas, a milestone in the shift to clean energy.

Hey, has anyone visited TRAC Immigration and looked up asylum denial rates in US immigration courts?

December 2025: 84%
January 2026: 91%

Ten years ago today, in April 2016, the Boston Globe printed a satirical front page imagining a future Trump administration. The page was called "alarmist," "hyperbolic," "dystopian." But we’ve put up with so much since then it now looks like . . . a slow Thursday?

It will almost certainly result in the introduction of MUCH higher consumption taxes, which are regressive, thus screwing over the people it is supposed to help, and will worsen government services, screwing those same people again.
This is an absolute shit idea.

Newly Obtained Video of Minneapolis Shooting Undermines ICE Account

Remember when DHS agents had no choice but to shoot two Venezuelan men because the men had attacked them with a snow shovel and a broomstick?

New video shows they were lying about that one, too.

Seems like this is probably bad comms and a bad attempt at accomodation, not an attempt to be exclusionary.

Without more information, I’ll reserve my ire for the war crimes and the thousands of other atrocious acts Hegseth is committing.

Not a Catholic myself, but I think Catholics do not do mass on Good Friday, as Bendery implies in this thread. My understanding is that any service held on Good Friday has no communion unless the host was consecrated on Maundy Thursday.

Can’t resist counting the lapse between lightning and thunder—and, as a Michigander, can’t help but hum a Seger tune:

I’m with you (and Amar). I‘d just locate the nadir differently—a temporal quibble—because SCOTUS engineered this in a way that serves Trump. All he needs to avert conviction on this ground for impeachment is Alito’s (or Thomas’s) vote.

It seems we just bombed some residential buildings in an attempt to kill a former diplomat who was trying to facilitate negotiations.

A civilian trying to *end* hostilities, surrounded by other civilians in their homes.

We are completely lost.

I hear ya.

But I think today’s argument was not deferring to POTUS so much as it was baked in last June, when SCOTUS rewarded the government’s obstinate litigation strategy.
