Like, learning is cool, you can learn new things every day! You're gonna suck at first, who cares! Why would you want to deny yourself that opportunity?

Did IT work for 16ish years or so, still occassionally take jobs for old clients.

The "new school" is a paradise of knowledge, sharing and material. Sometimes I just get bored and pick stuff up for a weekend or so *because it's just THERE*. Free too! No pirating your text books necessary!

That's really cool, "one day" isn't *right now*, and I'd be willing to bet it won't even be a few years from now. That's before we get to the fact a lot of "vibe coders" are shipping product w/o penetration testing/use case testing in a real world environment.

While I fully expect Ai to automate certain parts of production at some point ala daemon like commands, it's not quite there yet-it's inelegant. There's a reason all modern comp-sci degree qualifications want human code.

So you're wasting money kicking the can down the road.

You don't have to know everything. You can just be skilled in the use case for the job you're applying for and /that's totally fine/, that's what they hired you for.

The key thing here is, they don't value human labor or skill, so the enshittification will continue as they hire luddites.

I'm not an expert by any means. I know python okay, can "read" CSS/HTML and see what it's doing. Coding isn't hard, it just takes practice like any skill. I'd be willing to bet you could probably land a job doing it in a few months.

And yet.

I was explaining this to some friends earlier, but the funniest thing about vibe coding is that it's easier than it's ever been to learn how to code and these fucks would rather shell out hundreds of dollars to have Automated Script Kiddy do it.
