BACK ON MY BS
i think this attitude β that all opposition is illegitimate and nothing we do can be questionedβ is probably pervasive in the white house and helps explain why they keep making terrible political choices
Never once thought I'd have real opinions on the chair of the federal reserve.
Now I'm considering making a pledge to name my first born Jerome.
I've ran into some headaches with this build, largely Plex transcode tasks that don't get assigned to the gpu (subtitles, audio), BUT, setting up Bazarr to pull subtitles has helped a TON.
If I ever build a gaming rig again it's probably going to be an AMD cpu with an Intel GPU, and that tickles me a little hahaha
I have aspirations of upgrading my current NIC to an Intel x550 to take advantage of my UDR7 (2.5Gb w/ WiFi7)
We recently got 1gig symmetric fiber at the house. Maybe one day I'll be able to justify 2.5 gigs but that's probably a long way out if I'm being honest.
I ran a small test last night and was able to easily get 5 4kHDR -> 1080pSDR transcodes with my Intel i5 9600k and the Arc A380. Previously I'd get stutters and a ton of buffering if I tried to do more than two with my iGPU.
I think my bottleneck is my NIC now π€
Intel Arc works with Ubuntu!!!!
Installed an Arc A380 into my media server and it posted and transcodes in Plex!
Woohooo!!!
I did follow Intel's instructions to update my kernel to 6.14 instead of 6.8 via Cannonical's documentation (and had to update my mobo firmware to enable resizable bar)
Please do not ask me to elaborate, but I get the feeling that the Venn Diagram of people who say women lower standards for combat arms and the people who believe a bachelors degree can be 90 credit hours is a circle
Idk man, maybe you'll have a better experience in game if you turn off the overlay showing you're not hitting 60 fps π€·π»
Travesty this morning, our local Dunkin is out of whole milk π©
We're taking the train down to Virginia for the weekend, god damn do I love this stuff
Yeah i feel that. We dont do a lot of shows because Boston is like best case scenario 2 hours out depending on traffic
Hell yeah! Morgan and I saw them in Boston in August. It was a great show, we had a blast.
Rip, shout out the rite aide a few blocks from west high. That ice cream was worth cutting PE
I played this yesterday! Very fun, and the animations with the explosions were so cool. Thank you for making it
Sent this off to the recycler today. Got a nice arc when we plugged it in to see if it'd boot π
Spent the better part of 3 hours working with an intern on an HP laptop only to discover the owner bit-locked the ssd and threw away the key π
Goddamn did it bring back memories. Being a fresh technician and getting stonewalled by that HP bios screen. Its usually pebkac, and was this time
One of the interns brought in an old Dell PowerEdge 2600 from 2002!!!
This thing has 2 PSUs, 6 drive bays, two disks drives, an old scsi card, and hasn't been booted in 10-15 years. We spent most of the day just trying to clean it out
I'm currently running Ubuntu Server 24.04, BUT, I'm planning on installing proxmox and running Ubuntu as a VM and maybe doing a freeBSD distro for a virtual NAS.
At the very least I want to reinstall ubuntu to take advantage of my dual m.2s to mirror my boot drive.

Ordered a couple (used) 8tb datacenter hdds for my homelab π

the trump administration is selling its war on higher education as a strike against the elites who have disadvantaged ordinary americans. in actuality, the administration is destroying advanced education for *everyone* in pursuit of its effort to deskill the american public
A New Yorker cartoon where a guy asks ChatGPT why his energy bills are spiking
Averaged 219 watts for 30 minutes on the (stationary) bike this morning. Feeling smug π
