So happy to announce that I am the recipient of the Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award for 2026!
My #poems are all about landscape, nature, personhood, and motherhood in the anthropocene. Hope you'll see some of them soon!

a blue void spiraling into the kathunk of my fist-sized heart. Every muscle feels like it's made of cotton, on the thin breeze of the whims of my nerves, stretched over the weave of my basket skeleton.
How do I explain agitation like the fizz of a live wire? A spark at the base of my skull tremors in my veins like the movements of maggots crawling a corpse. I've got something inside me I dont understand,
Everything is a social construct. I want to live like a sunflower--following the sunshine around the sky and giving shelter to tired bees in the twilight.

I had not heard of this, thank you for sharing.

Pink four-petalled dogwood bloom on a bare brown twig. Background is green grass and a thicket of thin trees.
This dogwood bloom is #poetry
I circulate.
I #plan curves in the body
Like I'm mapping a route.
You find me small and split
Between your palms.
A voice catches
In your throat.
Mine.

As the sun reaches zenith, grass gets a #promotion and the trees who have spent winter asking for a raise finally unroll their leaves and get to work. My world is greening in the way it should, nothing but the flowers need answer my call.

As far as verbs go, #place weakens a sentence with delicate hesitance. Place your hand in mine, no, grasp it. Thread your fingers into the lace of my own, make a mess of our palms. Braid your hands into dirt. There is no being delicate in the dark, no location to which you can escape.

Night transforms flowers to hellish maws gaping in shadows and starlight.

The roots of ancient oaks twist the earth like the #indivisibility of veins in your palm. I feel your heartbeat in the bark. A scar is just a sign of aging, a growing braid of skin and soul and cambium and heartwood that no one can unwrench.

While the fire burns you are paralyzed, the flames lick the shag carpet of nostalgia and the clawed feet of the gilded age sofa. Why do we want to go back there? Aren't we all #guilty of rose-coloring some kind of the past? You give into the fire because it is all that is left to do.

Dark brown bookshelf with striped teddy bear in the foreground and several books in background. Also on the shelf is a pale wood frame with black swirling art, a stout white candle labeled Library Tea Party, a wooden carving of a mom and child in a rocking chair, and an orange glass turkey.

Welcome to the #emporium of bait and switch, televised tyranny in oversized navy suits. I hope you enjoy your stay because we've locked the doors behind you and fire exits no longer exist. Whatever you think we've done wrong, keep it to yourself. Choke on it. Medical staff won't intervene.
