This is a great thread. One thing I want to add is that a lot of gentiles are now inserting themselves into very Jewish conversations around Jewish identities in ways that wouldn't be appropriate for any other group.

It will never cease to amaze me how hard Republicans are working to destroy the future of this country.
In the past two days, I have had three articles published! More about my second two (& a special issue I coedited) later but just so excited to be getting some of these articles out!
Perfect! I will need a new book soon.
New Article in Social Policy & Administration w/ Wiley, Papanek, & Chen: Queering the Social Media Narrative: Influencers as Public Health Authorities. In this study, we look at how governments, nonprofits, and influencers used social media during Mpox.

Overall, this article provides discussion on how influencers are part of public administration and can help connect PA to communities who may not trust governments. We encourage more of a conversation on how PA can queer social media outreach.

First, formal PHAs tended to assume heteronormative lifestyle and ignore queer lifestyle among followers, leaving gay and bisexual men to sort through heteronormative content to locate resources essential to their well-being.
Second, influencers, including Dr. Demetre who bridged the roles of influencer and governmental official, acted as a public health system for gay and bisexual men by (1) constantly
reminding followers to get the vaccine and telling them where to obtain it, and (2) supplementing governmental guidance with steps tailored for a queer audience that was sex-positive. Influencers understood the individuals, the activities, and the environment among which Mpox was likely to spread (Amer et al. 2023).
We looked at 533 posts in a larger dataset exploring how different governments, nonprofits, and influencers called LGBTQ+ individuals to act in response to Mpox. We make a few recommendations for public administration in using influencers as partners in reaching out to LGBTQ+ communities.

A chocolate torte with a 6 in powdered sugar on a blue & white plate.
Made a chocolate torte for Sy's 6th birthday tomorrow (the joys of having a Passover birthday). I had some issues with the recipe & it didn't come out like I wanted but it was still yummy. Always learning how to be a better baker!
Matzah toffee made with condensed milk, caramel, coconut, chocolate, and matzah.
What is Passover without matzah toffee? I used a new recipe with caramel, butter, condensed milk, coconut, milk chocolate, and matzah. Next time I would go with dark chocolate but it was very yummy.
This sounds like a good case study when discussing local management in public administration.
This was a fantastic thread!
I am fascinated with this because it is the political and economic fantasy of the last several decades coming home to roost in a very local and tangible way. Multiple generations who don't understand what taxes are supposed to be for and the fact that we live in a society.
For dinner we made a Mina which is a passover pie. The ground beef is cooked in a pie crust of matzah.

3 plates of marzipan topped with almonds on plates on top of a grey tablecloth.
My desserts for the seder tonight are done. I made marzipan and an orange cake that my husband loves. Put the marzipan on plates of jewish baked goods that my mom bought for us. Chag pesach sameach.

An interesting new book on the fight for fairness in sports for transgender athletes!
They’d rather the country be poorer and whiter than rich and diverse. Of course when the pie shrinks, the rich will demand the same amount and will tell you the crumbs you’re left with are because of immigrants or trans people or DEI. bsky.app/profile/apne...
