Installing ICE at airports is a grade a level stupid idea but it also advances the larger issue, which is a private, unaccountable army funded by and ideologically loyal to a dictator that spreads militaristic oppression to all forms of public life.

And OMG, how could I leave out Shawnta Creech's testimony which was beyond firey! She wrote a letter to faculty in response to a letter to students that I was a signatory on that honestly kept me warm through the first two freezing wet days on the picket line. PCC Students are truly incredible.

‘No one deserves this’: Beaverton father dies after deportation to Mexico A Beaverton family is grieving after the father, who was detained and deported by ICE, has now died.

This 53 year old man who lived in my neighborhood w/no criminal record & who had been in the US for 30 years, was detained and thrown into a cold cell for days, caught pneumonia and COVID there and deported.

He finally died.

I want to praise the foresight of whomever agreed to Kimmel's contract - it thoroughly protected his right to free speech. Comedians everywhere need this. They will cross the line again and again. And hopefully for the best of reasons.

"Make cities better" may be the best direction for climate action in these grim times. 80% of Americans live in urban areas. Creating neighborhoods with reliable, frequent public transit, protected active transit, and dense, affordable housing could make US cities *so much better to live in* while..
