Always fun to be with @velshi.com, and always fun to be psyching up protesters! If you don't know your rally site, or to NoKings.org, or thirdact.org

Installing ICE at airports is a grade a level stupid idea but it also advances the larger issue, which is a private, unaccountable army funded by and ideologically loyal to a dictator that spreads militaristic oppression to all forms of public life.

And OMG, how could I leave out Shawnta Creech's testimony which was beyond firey! She wrote a letter to faculty in response to a letter to students that I was a signatory on that honestly kept me warm through the first two freezing wet days on the picket line. PCC Students are truly incredible.

I took the Zoom transcript from last night's Portland Community College Board meeting and cleaned it up so people could easily read the testimony. All were 🔥, but my faves were from student Rachel Thomas (which made me 😭) & @pccffap.bsky.social President Ben Cushing. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

‘No one deserves this’: Beaverton father dies after deportation to Mexico A Beaverton family is grieving after the father, who was detained and deported by ICE, has now died.

This 53 year old man who lived in my neighborhood w/no criminal record & who had been in the US for 30 years, was detained and thrown into a cold cell for days, caught pneumonia and COVID there and deported.

He finally died.

I am so angry.

Reverand Jackson was surrounded by reporters by the way. I'd crawled in at his feet to take that photo, recalling the recent advice of a photography teacher to take risks.

while attending. A high school club had paid for the film. I ended up creating a display for the school and giving a very short talk in the evening. The march was part of a series of things that left a lasting impression on me, but something I'll never forget.

Tonight, I remember Reverand Jesse Jackson, who made an impression on me at the Save Our Cities March in 1992. The march was held after the brutal arrest of Rodney King in 1991 and the civil disturbances in L.A. in 1992. I took this photo of Reverand Jackson and others as a high school student

I want to praise the foresight of whomever agreed to Kimmel's contract - it thoroughly protected his right to free speech. Comedians everywhere need this. They will cross the line again and again. And hopefully for the best of reasons.

"Make cities better" may be the best direction for climate action in these grim times. 80% of Americans live in urban areas. Creating neighborhoods with reliable, frequent public transit, protected active transit, and dense, affordable housing could make US cities *so much better to live in* while..

Climate action can feel slow – but the fastest energy leap in history has begun Weaning ourselves off fossil fuels is glacially slow – isn’t it? This pessimistic narrative doesn’t stack up against evidence of very rapid change in the real world.

🔔 #goodclimatenews alert 🔔

The renewable revolution is picking up speed.

All across the globe, we’re seeing unprecedented growth and investment in clean energy – displacing fossil fuels and helping to reduce planet-heating emissions.

If you, like me, are the parent of a neuro-atypical child dreading this autism press conference, please remember: These are the people hurting our kids. Not us. They are the ones stigmatizing and pathologizing them. They are the ones peddling untested science. And we should be very, very angry.
