This is partly why I've been crying out against Don John the Bastard Prince since his PR stunt entry into the GOP primary in 2016. He is the incarnation of the spirit of hatred that became so evident after 9/11.

I keep forgetting that I'm a member of this thing.
Advent is problematic in part because it waits enthralled by a Christmas that assumes that the incarnation of God as the peasant Jesus occurred on a calendar day. And yet, God was not born as a Galilean baby until the chronologically ambiguous Easter morning, and then only as a crucified malefactor.
And I think sanctity must precede—and thus in advance, problematize—ethics.
Bonhoeffer has just summarized everything I’ve been trying to say about metanoia: Metanoia is “not in the first place thinking about one’s own needs, problems, sins, and fears, but allowing oneself to be caught up into the way of Jesus Christ, into the messianic event, this fulfilling Isa. 53.”

Matt Gaetz looks like an abomination that emerged from the stain on the mattress after an ugly threesome between Jack Nicholson, Richard Nixon, and that guy from Full Metal Jacket who killed his drill sergeant.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer. His time was unique, of course, but today I have no trouble understanding him.
Sometimes I feel like a minor character in a John le Carré novel.
8. Never trust someone making "scientific claims" in order to prop up a profoundly questionable ideology.
6. The gospel begins by declaring that in Christ there is not male and female (thus at *relativizing* Genesis 1).
7. The gospel calls us to love the people we meet and come more and more to understand, not tell them that they have some condition to meet before we take them seriously.
4. Geneticists are still trying to understand how a concrete human, standing right there in front of them, is to be understood in terms of their genes.
5. It is a nervous modernity, out to control its world, that has rigidified gender.
1. Gender is not simply a matter of genetics.
2. Geneticists recognize that gender is not binary, simply male vs. female.
3. Gestation is a complex process in which chemical effects on genetic operations are profound.

I never seriously posted on Twitter/X. Staying within 300 characters is going to be a challenge. Perhaps I can save my longer posts for FB and do one-liners here.
If you liked the caging and separation of children from their migrating parents at America's southern border early in the first term of Don John the Bastard Prince, you're going to love Tom Homan as "Border Czar."
I think if I had to have a nom de plume, it’d be Bob Voyage.
6. He's here because America is extremely screwed up and voting is a farce.
5. "Voters" are not what they are cracked up to be and the mythology that clings to voting is not particularly perspicacious. President #47 is a hurricane, a flurry of tornadoes, an earthquake, wildfires, and a collision with an asteroid.
4. I believe that the havoc Don John will wreak in the next four years will be horrific, especially for the most vulnerable people in this land. However, I don't believe that voters are to be blamed.
3. (Of course, with Matt Gaetz as Attorney General and Robert Kennedy, Jr., as head of HHS and Tom Homan as Border Czar that "something completely different" is becoming clearer, but poorly informed Americans didn't think much about that kind of thing before casting their votes.)
2. Don John is nothing if not a bombshell in the playground of the dreamers of the current classy iteration of the American Dream. What he offered in his campaign (to use an old line from Monty Python) was something completely different, as ill-defined as that may have been.
1. I think that the reelection of Don John the Bastard Prince is about White Supremacy and related injustices (like heteronormativity and misogyny). Yet it may be mostly about widespread American dissatisfaction with what they perceive as the trajectory of current mainstream American aspirations.
