pickle juice gives chicken a nice flavor and keeps it nice and juicy while it cooks! I usually leave mine for maybe an hour or while I’m prepping the rest of the meal 😁

I will never not take the opportunity to remind folks that Harriet Tubman killed niggas on the spot. If you knew about her and what she was doing and decided you weren’t going or changed your mind she shot you, period. You weren’t bout to go snitch.

It feels like 2019 again, but it’s 2025.

Measles burns like a wildfire, Bird Flu gathers like storm clouds, COVID-19 lingers like a shadow, and Tuberculosis smolders beneath the surface while a mysterious illness in Congo signals the next alarm.

Yet, governments remain frozen. The cycle repeats.

‘Eyes on the Prize III: We Who Believe in Freedom Cannot Rest 1977-2015’ Review: Landmark Docuseries Remains Essential Viewing in New HBO Chapter The Million Man March, the birth of Black Lives Matter, urban renewal projects in the Bronx and the aftermath of the Los Angeles Uprising get spotlights in the six-parter.

I'm genuinely disheartened by the lack of reviews/coverage for "Eyes on the Prize III," which premieres on HBO tonight.

Sigh. This is, I guess, a "me" problem. But nothing you could watch this week is better.

Anyway... ICYMI, my review:

pls stop cherry picking big companies depending on their “DEI” standards. Especially Apple. Don’t let these rich mfs fool you.

"The Black mentor class is being fired, not just on television but throughout America."

And that's why it will never be enough to "express sympathies" and send "thoughts and prayers". If you want to make a difference, hire, platform, support, and put on Black folks. Anything less is cheap talk.

When Bad Bunny released his latest album, he didn’t spend time trying to explain all the intricacies to those who aren’t Latinx. Neither did those of the diaspora.
We don’t need to keep explaining things. If it’s not for you, it’s not for you.

idk, i guess i always just feel really...emboldened? when i read about figures from history who stood up to evil, and specifically if it's someone i've never heard of before, or maybe even someone who didn't really make much of a difference in the moment. bc that's probably my role, too

I’ve been thinking about the story of the forbidden fruit and I’ve came to the conclusion that it has never really been about disobedience—it’s about awareness. Before eating the “apple,” Adam and Eve existed in a state of blind obedience, unaware that they even had the ability to choose.

Most adults (& I have been guilty of this) do not properly know how to feel, process, and regulate their emotions.

Shutting down/avoidance/silent treatment/burying is not regulation.

Overreacting/spiraling/controlling others/crashing out is not regulation.

Say what you want about Kendrick but the fact that people are figuring out what “40 acres and a mule” in 2025 is why any education to black history is important, no matter no big nor small.

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source.

Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

I think the sanitation of the word n*gga w things like “🥷🏾” and “YN” have made younger non-black people less afraid of using it casually

And I don’t know what that means for the future but the floodgates are currently wide open on black culture and nothing is seemingly stopping it
