How Software Developers Fail Software developers fail in two ways: they build the thing wrong, or they build the wrong thing. -- Ardalis

Software developers fail in two ways:

āŒ They build the thing wrong
āŒ They build the wrong thing

Agentic development magnifies both of these.

Claude is now canceling per-seat enterprise licenses and moving these accounts to straight per-token consumption models. The trend continues.

Disney Layoffs Hit Marvel Studios Hard The Academy Award-winning artists behind some of Marvel's biggest hits are among the casualties from company wide staff reductions.

Devastated to hear the entire Marvel Studios’s Visual Development team has been let go. This was my old home but more importantly, the home of so many incredible artists and peers.

Absolutely heartbreaking šŸ˜”

The Internet's Most Powerful Archiving Tool Is in Peril As major news outlets cut off the Wayback Machine, journalists and advocacy groups are rallying to protect the Internet Archive’s vast collection of web pages.

Journalists know that losing the Wayback Machine would be a nightmare: www.wired.com/story/the-in...

I usually put mutation methods on the entity being mutated. The aggregate root is still responsible for enforcing the invariants on the whole aggregate, but that doesn't mean child entities should all be just DTOs - I view that as an antipattern. Does that help?

Absolutely burns me up that he's killing these projects just as we're taking the most promising new medical technology in my lifetime and having smart researchers apply it to all the illnesses we haven't been able to crack yet.

John Deere to Pay $99 Million in Monumental Right-to-Repair Settlement The ag manufacturing giant will also make digital diagnostic, maintenance, and repair tools available to third parties for 10 years.

This is a good thing, and hopefully pushes back against the endless enshittification of products by vendors:

EFF is Leaving X After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X. This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue.

EFF is leaving X/Twitter.

Sorry but it's about freaking time.

I don't expect everyone to leave. Yes it's a cesspool and the algorithm sucks. But the EFF of all orgs should care about this.

This "we weren't getting engagement anymore" nonsense is weak sauce.

For those of us who never used all of our Bluesky invite codes before they went away, they should be turned into uninvite codes where we can delete accounts of our choice

Running Multiple Instances of an Aspire AppHost Without Port Conflicts Aspire 13.2 introduces isolated mode, letting you run multiple instances of the same AppHost in parallel without port conflicts.

Git worktrees are the new hotness now that agents can work on parallel instances of your codebase. What they don’t solve is the port conflict problem, that’s where aspire run/start —isolated comes!

"To put it bluntly, an X post today receives less than 3% of the views a single tweet delivered seven years ago."
If you think it is necessary to be on Twitter to communicate your fact-based worldview, the reality is that worldview is being smothered.

One of the foundational promises of cloud computing is elastic, near-infinite scalability. So why is Anthropic, running on the infrastructure of Amazon and Google, throttling its users during peak hours?

It is unfortunate that the side of the moon we rarely see is typically referred to as the dark side, but in the post she referenced it even calls it by the more apt name ā€œfar sideā€ so it’s harder to credit the ā€œdarkā€ name with the misunderstanding…
