If you're European, you now have a great and well-funded PDS in EU soil, governed by EU laws, run by awesome folks. Moving your account to Eurosky is easy, and you won't notice the difference afterwards. Please take a few minutes and do the jump 🇪🇺

Please read this blog post if you're a maintainer. It isn't about protecting yourself, but protecting us. We have already pushed most of our calls to Signal (and kept community, ecosystem calls in Discord). The axios incident confirms this path. We can't be installing new software to have calls.
I don't think many people are familiar with Coldark (initially a VSCode theme: marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemNa...). I plan to resume its maintenance. Some work has been done, but more is underway. No due date! But any Coldark user is welcome to chime in github.com/ArmandPhilip...
Colibri is nowhere near complete, and we've got a couple ways in which we're looking to improve the app in the near future ✨
You can read more on our Leaflet, where we've made an announcement post:

But most important, this release brings us one step closer to the upcoming native-speed 7.0!

If you're looking for someone who's as good at writing useful and detailed documentation for your users as they are at energizing your community, I can only recommend Sarah!
Thank you! I never followed the Astro tutorial before checking the changes for v5 (and not as a user)... because I never felt the need. The documentation was clear and well-written enough, and that's thanks to you!
I have to say, I'm going to miss the dynamic we had...
It's also a good time to remember that Starlight is 100% community maintained and funded!

Starlight 0.38 Built for Astro 6
Don’t wait
Don’t hesitate
It’s time to update
to Starlight 0.38
Node.js is moving to one major release per year starting with Node 27! 🚀
✅ Simpler: Every release becomes LTS.
✅ Predictable: Version numbers now align with the year.
✅ New: A 6-month Alpha channel for early testing.

OK, not the *main* story of the day... but, the v6 major upgrade guide was a BIG part of Team Docs life for months.
A lot of us worked on it. I hope it works for you when you upgrade! (And if it doesn't... well, that's just an opportunity to contribute yourself!)

Astro 6 is here! We completely rebuilt the Astro dev server and build pipeline onto a new, more powerful runtime-agnostic architecture.
Plus: New Fonts API, CSP support, an experimental new Rust compiler, and more...

6 days and counting…
This is a shitty outcome for a valid criticism of an #overlay product:
France needs SLAPP laws.
I have a 2022 post detailing the failings of this overlay: adrianroselli.com/2022/03/faci...

You may not need that “AI” voice thing that reads your web pages aloud to users. It comes free in the browser:
• Edge’s Read Aloud (Ctrl + Shift + U),
• Firefox’s and Chrome’s reader mode text-to-speech,
• Safari’s Speech feature.
Stop adding trackers to your sites. Don’t add WCAG risk.
Now I wonder when will there be a special edition of Astro's Talking & Doc'ing... Singing & Doc'ing, that sounds great! 😆 (I wouldn't be any more talkative tough... 👀)
Great performance btw!
One of these days, I won't be able to keep up with the amazing @astro.build community... but I live to fight another month!

Astro hearts Image Kit
Please welcome ImageKit as Astro’s new Official Image Partner!
Thank you ImageKit for supporting our open source mission 💖
I've been experimenting with an upcoming CSS feature called border-shape lately.
It's really cool what you can do with it: lots of practical applications + it opens a lot of doors for non-rectangular UIs!
Try it in Canary w/experimental web platform features on, & read more:

Honored to be speaking at v-tokyo meetup!

To clarify, even some "company-backed open source projects" relies on community maintainers. And so, this doesn't mean that maintainers are available at all times! We're all humans, we do the best we can. I think this is more an issue with people thinking that OSS projects are regular companies...
I'm going to be at @vuejsamsterdam.bsky.social next month, talking all about Astro 6. Say hi if you're there!
There's a load of new stuff added to the release since I last spoke about it, so I've a lot to share.
