Noodling over climate change (especially extreme heat) and what it means for medication safety as more pharmacies switch to mail delivery of medications (including temperature-sensitive medicines).
« There are systemic and structural reasons for why Nunavik, as part of Quebec, is veering farther from the goal of eliminating tuberculosis by 2030, while its neighbouring Inuit-governed territory of Nunavut is getting closer »

*Gratis does, not with the county
Not the point, but honestly a little surprised that Hamilton County does not and Preble does.
My former employer is selling one of its campuses, ending almost all journal subscriptions, and shutting down programs (& laying off staff) left and right, but it has plenty of money to subject its community to surveillance and thought policing.
I filled in the survey and so can you! tomorrow is the deadline, so get on that. headlight glare is bad for other drivers of course, but also for pedestrians and cyclists and other non-car travellers. tell them to regulate that shit!
“I used AI to combine the data from two excel lists and then send emails to people who were on one list but not another. Saved me so much time.”
My brother in academia, you just fucking discovered mail merge. Welcome to early nineties computing.
Oh my God
what
The college summer baseball team in Falmouth, MA had a gazpacho I still think about.
"I thought we might share it [points to name badge]" then spinning in a circle is the only way I will accept my govt name from now on.
With the note that this is not an invitation to guess (I will block):
A woman at a dance weekend who I'm guessing was over 65 figured out what my name was (correctly guessed we shared a name), smiled, nodded, and moved immediately back to twirling.
10/10 best govt name interaction I've ever had!
Are women bourgeois?
The teen, Rihan, is the son of Zia, a former interpreter for U.S. forces in Afghanistan who spent three months in ICE custody last year.
The ICE agents who arrested Rihan on April 6 were trying to rearrest his father, according to a court filing by Rihan’s attorneys. #nutmegsky
This is a good formula because it is a formula for getting people ready to act, educating them (incl about rights!), and directing action (exercise muscles in doing stuff!).
It frustrates me when I see Substack, Insta, bsky, etc posts that start to feel ragebaity because there's no context/action.
One of the best things union work taught me is that if you want people to act on things, sharing [bad thing] plus [here is why it is bad] plus [here is what you can do individually and we can do collectively] is a pretty solid formula for both progress on an issue AND getting more people involved.
Today, Patrick Lin explains how surveillance pricing is making it easier for corporations to exploit consumers, how states are starting to push back against these practices, and why those efforts are running into First Amendment challenges.
That's a great haircut!
I think it is really a book but also it works well as-is!
And I did suggest your books at a folk dance weekend (that I was transiting to/from while reading) in a conversation about reccs for queer sports romance that isn't overly-super-sweet-fluffy!
🧢 CHAPEAU SLAFKOVSKY 🧢
L'attaquant réussit son premier tour du chapeau en séries éliminatoires et donne la victoire aux Canadiens!
I had the big sads this weekend so tbh this was good to read (the angst and resolution was in a way that was good for my brain), but also........ yeah.
A photo of the xteink X4, a small eReader, held by someone on a sidewalk with blurry lights in the background
I now own the device (XTeink X4) which means I read a @aribaranwrites.bsky.social novella on public transit over the weekend.
I wouldn't personally put it on the back of my phone, but I love it for throwing in a pocket, wallet, etc!
Could've had a screening at the hall is all I'm saying
The Habs stream cutting away after a goal to show people losing their minds a church also showing the game in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, this is patrimonie ⚜️
It’s tough to beat the Lightning and the refs
how is it already the 19th this is some dang bullshit
It's harder to measure but I feel like RFK Jnr shutting down funding for MRNA research is actually up there with DOGE cuts and this latest Iranian war as a contender for Most Evil Things Trump II has done. Accounted properly, this regime is really wracking up 20th-century-dictator kill counts imo.
