Have a lovely Christmas
Wishing you and yours a lovely Christmas
The persecution against our wildlife feels never ending at present 😭
Enjoy. I’m still drying out from yday’s very soggy trip to Hull 🤣
From this, to proposed welfare changes, cutting back on wildlife protection in the name of growth and development..sadly feeling v politically homeless at this time with no real alternatives where I live
Need to be able to get out of any light pollution & often very late nights/early mornings! 🤣. I follow a number of sites to keep up to speed on chances
As earth weather stopping any chance of aurora watching near here tonight revisiting photos from last year’s fantastic display over north Sheffield (Oct 24) #aurora
Doesn’t surprise me..I bought some end of season salvias a few weeks ago and they have put on masses of growth and blooms. Autumn colours looking fab.
Thanks! By now, a few of those plants should have died off. Nice to still have colour on a grey autumnal day
Thanks!
A large nasturtium plant covering a Pallett composter at my allotment
A potato plant growing in November at my allotment
Orange calendula flowers in full bloom in November
Green manure phacelia already in bloom, showing purple flowers
A tentative return to social media after 8 months away (aside from FB for friends and family). Back at the allotment and it’s crazy weather here for November. Plants still in full bloom and leaf, volunteer potatoes growing strongly lol #allotment #growyourown #nodig
I love cardamom in cake, sounds a great way to spend a Sunday too x
That looks lovely
Just finished up all the sourdough so probably just some herby dumplings. Glad you enjoyed it, my mum makes a mean roast dinner too x
Sounds good. Slow cooker stew on & a good morning’s shift at the allotment. Now to finally make a dent in the backlog of photos I have to sort & process
Fireworks terrify animals — from pets running away to wildlife in panic.
Every year, lives are lost and chaos follows, all for a few minutes of noise and colour.
It’s time to limit fireworks to licensed public events or switch to silent shows. Compassion isn’t anti-fun — it’s common sense.
We really enjoyed the Sheffield gig, hope you had a great time
I’d take that for sure!
Really enjoyed the gig last night. Purchased CDs now being played. Thanks again
We visited York Minster yesterday & stayed for Evensong. Being in the place with so few people was a real change..such silence.
On dreich days like these it might cheer you up to know that in 19th-century slang an umbrella was a ‘bumbershoot’.
That’s good to hear. Hopefully companies will improve the quality of the compost in general. Personally not had many issues & using it for years..just got my bags of Sylvagrow for my seeds which is my favourite for sowing in
Meet the other guardian of the greenhouse ..typical sassy ginger called Teddy. Nothing nicer than warming the hands with a hot cup of tea whilst surveying the progress & jobs to do. 🌱 #gardening #allotment #growyourown
Cold day with a biting wind means it was a struggle to go up to the allotment today -this weather + fibro = bad combo especially on my hands. But the sight of the first white sprouting broccoli & friendly greeting from the guardian of the greenhouse made it worthwhile #gardening #growyourown
But even with regulation it is only as good as how it is enforced. Many examples over here of regulators siding with business over customer
Agree. Some have very poor selection or information on growing your own veg..would love to see some more perennial veg plants for example.
Beautiful sunny skies today & a wander around Cannon Hall Park and Gardens. Resident Kingfisher didn’t put in an appearance but lovely day of quiet wildlife watching
Yes it is rather! Love living here, huge variety of things to see and do
