@gardenshour.bsky.social Evening #GardensHour I’ve cut back and mulched around some of the ferns, and they’re rewarding me with some new tentacle-like growth
Thanks Rick. I’m looking forward to seeing them fully open!
Does seem like it !
One of the biggest gardening challenges is staying patient. So very nearly there with the tulips #GardensHour
Have to admit this is on my mind too Stuart #GardensHour
Watch out for those pesky slugs! #GardensHour
Evening #GardensHour I think in general changing weather patterns, at least in the UK, are becoming a big challenge. Drier & hotter Summers, & milder but wetter Winters are hard on plants and Gardeners!
Evening #GardensHour back from Cheshire where Storm Dave wasn’t very nice! Here April means losing more space to seedlings! Tomatoes, chillies, sweet peppers & Cosmos & more all on the go currently
* drawing water and nutrients
Legginess isn’t too much of a problem as they can be potted on up to their leaves. They develop roots all down the stem which is advantageous for drawing roots and nutrients #GardensHour
Good evening #GardensHour the sowing continues apace and the first tomato seedlings have poked their heads up. These are Red Cherry and Sun Baby
Gardeners beware! 🪴🌷❄️
If you've already put tender plants outdoors, you may want to cover them or bring them inside. A widespread frost is expected tonight with ice possible on surfaces left damp after evening showers 🌡️
The Clematis armandii is looking good and is bringing its sweet scent to the party too #GardensHour
Evening #GardensHour the Fritillaria Imperialis ‘Red Beauty’ is out at the moment
I love Parrot tulips. I’ve got Black Parrot in the ground this year but I shall look out for Blue for next year #GardensHour
More space for plants is always good! #GardensHour
Good evening #GardensHour the Garlic I planted in modules put on a good amount of root growth, so I planted them out at the weekend, 15cm apart, 30cm in between rows. I’ll harvest in early Summer!
Evening #GardensHour it’s still pretty damp outside so I haven’t done much out there, but the inside seed sowing continues; this week, these ‘Red Midget’ (Ratibida columnifera). Haven’t grown them before but I thought they looked fun!
Sounds good! Hope you get a good germination rate #GardensHour
Haha how silly is silly? If I had more space I would too #GardensHour
That looks lovely! #GardensHour
Good evening #GardensHour March for me (hopefully) means longer days & better light levels for the sowing of seeds. Tomatoes sown today
Evening #GardensHour my highlight over the last week has been noticing the Spring bulbs coming up in great numbers now
Evening #GardensHour the thing I love most about my garden is that it gives me the opportunity to grow things from seed. Latest sowings were these Jalapeño Chillis at the weekend
He looks very regal! #GardensHour
Looks like he wanted a go in the hot tub #GardensHour
Good evening #GardensHour I see Robins not only in my garden, but everywhere I garden. My favourite bird by far
I think last month would have been ‘Roses’. This month it’s most probably ‘Wisteria’. Pruning to 2 buds in the second month #GardensHour
Evening #GardensHour the French Garlic ‘Arno’ that I planted in cells a few weeks ago is growing well inside the growhouse. Once they’ve put on a good root system they’ll go out into the big wide world!
