Those clouds! That sky! So beautiful 😲

This is the no-bullshit message that people need to hear. I'd suggest leading with this kind of post at the top of a thread, though; it gets lost otherwise. Not everyone chooses to show replies in their following feed. Go for the strong start! ☺️

My heart goes out to you. One of my cats died recently, too. It cuts so deeply when our furry companions leave us. Oscar looks like he was an absolute joy.

Il est tellement beau, ton châle. ☺️

Aw, so sweet. 🥺 Your cat's past life must have been saintly as heck to draw this hand, heh.

I live that wavy hair life, too, and know exactly what you mean. Savor the experience. 😂

N.B.: This man was heavily involved in glacier mountaineering and trained glacier guides, so he knew a thing or two about cold.

I try to seek out moments like that—where the beauty of nature is such a wonder to behold. It's a reminder of how we can find happiness even when everything else feels like it's all too much.

So beautiful!

Oh, good! I'm so glad. 😊 A day of knitting socks and soaking in a hot spring sounds amazing. 🥳

I'm so sorry that happened. I imagine it must have been an awful feeling to wake up to. Glad you're in a better place now. Hope you can take some time for yourself today and do something soothing (like knitting, heh heh :3).

Jane Goodall over here making me cry on a Sunday morning. 🥺

I just looked up how much they cost these days and, wow... that's absurd. And it looks like they don't even sell the cool accessories for the historical dolls anymore—though maybe that's best for your wallet's sake. 😅

I've done that before. 😂 I think it makes them quirky in a really cute way, though!

The broken twill and two-prong YKK buttons are 🤌. If you ever take up sewing, there are some unisex patterns that would make a decent base for this.

That happened in Oakland a few years back. Someone driving around, shooting bullets into the air. Iirc it was on some big football game day, too. 🥲

A picture of an old, hardcover book on my lap. The book and dust jacket are moderately worn, with a tear at the top of the jacket and a couple of small coffee spots on the front. At the top is a line drawing of a portion of the Great Seal of the State of California (seriously, that's its full title), showing Athena's warrior aspect, helmet on head and spear in hand, though only the shaft of the spear is visible. The rest of the cover reads, in a calligraphic typeface:
THE YEAR OF THE OATH
by GEORGE R. STEWART
in Collaboration with other professors of the University of California
A concise and highly readable account of the fight for academic freedom at the University of California.

Published at the height of the Red Scare in 1950, the book is an account of UC Regents' efforts to force a loyalty oath on tenured staff and faculty the year before, and professors' attempts to push back.

N.B.: UC ended up firing faculty who refused to sign the oath. The professors sued and, in 1951, won on their case against the University. That same year, however, the California legislature passed a law requiring its own loyalty oath. Professors at CSU-predecessor state colleges lost their suit to overturn that law—a low point for the California Supreme Court. The court later ruled that the state could force UC professors to take the oath. This state of affairs lasted for something like 15 years before the court overruled this disastrous precedent.

Just reading about UC professors' fight against loyalty oaths in 1949 for, oh, no reason at all.
