Oh I see what you are asking and No. KS1.3 rom was used so I can boot original floppy disk games with full compatibility, and KS3.1 was used for "normal" use. There were patches for getting 1.3 KS amigas working with hard drives, but back then this was very rare.
These days for SURE a CF card reader would be the way to go! They've got the compatibility worked out on those things too.
On that machine no! It's from when I was a kid and I kept it that way. It uses an "AdIDE" adapter from a company called ICD that made a bunch of awesome peripherals back then. It's a little board that sandwiches between the 68000 and the motherboard giving you a 40pin IDE connector for a HD.
on my A500 1.3 / 3.1 with a rom switch... there are those warez that just crave 1.3 :D
