If I take him at having taken 7-8hrs at minimum wage - and yeah, rounding up! - I'd be looking at about $130USD. That doesn't come too far off what I'd thought about listing him with a $200 buy now, but miniature painting is famously difficult to price on time/effort.

Love him as I might, this chap's looking for a new home. Anyone curious before I throw him on eBay with a ridiculous buy-out?

Getting scores of infantry on the table with a minimum of fuss without them giving the wide-eyed, thousand yard stare of goggle-eyed vacancy? Always been the way! They paint up a whole lot quicker than the NATO forces in all that fancy camo, that's for sure.

Right? Even if it were a clearer photo, I think you can see that looking at the gunners in the rear of the shot, you'd never see the strichtarn.

But yes, I'm guaranteed to hear about it all the same. 😂

For sure! But if you give me a couple hours to finish editing and upload, there'll be a video to go with it. 😜

Now, that last photo up close you can definitely make out the 'ein strich, kein strich' raindrop pattern but it's a squint. At any range you'd be meeting these guys with rifles? Nah. So balls am I driving myself bananas painting it!

A trio of East German Motor Rifles from the current @flankmarch.bsky.social Bruderkrieg Kickstarter. I looked at a looot of photos before deciding to ditch the famed 'raindrop' pattern - you just don't see it at range!

Now, ironically, I might grizzle, but I also really like hearing from folks that actually wore the uniform or carried the gear when they give a little more context on the thing; bellyaching about the L85A1 is always glorious.

This post brought to you by 'a senior leader has his hand away from the pistol grip on his MPi-AKS-74n so I had better remember to paint the grip something other than metal.'

oh my god

I know people say it, but I would absolutely buy a Brad Skiddo.

One of the least entertaining bits of doing research for painting real/historical miniatures is making sure I get every tiny, niggling, piteously tiny detail about a 28mm gun correct - to the year of manufacture, often - or I'm Gonna Hear About It.

It's also finally coming back around into weather where I can use the Dip without it taking a month of Sundays to actually dry and cure, so that'll be good for a couple other projects too, come to think of it!

A single figure as described previously. Here follows fluff:

On Manawyddan, it was common for the Cailleachs - sea witches - to surround themselves with a guard of noble warriors, all bearing a spark of witchcraft. These warriors could not themselves work the tides of the unseen, but their tie was undeniable, manifesting in unusual luck, flashes of foresight and other such minor miracles. Their duty was simple - it was not unheard of for a witch to go soaring with gulls or commune with the deep and come back beset with madness, or followed by some terrible spirit of the waves. In these times, her guard would act to protect both the Cailleach and their tribe while the witch fought to control herself and battle the great and terrible forces of the spirit world. In the worst times, they would act to mercifully end their mistress should she lose herself entirely.

When the tribes of Manawyddan became the gene-stock for the Krakenborn, both the Cailleachs and their guards came with them. With the training and discipline of the legion, the Cailleach Guard no longer needed to watch their mistresses for possession, but formed a bodyguard to protect her from mundane foes upon the battlefield. To show their rank, they donned robes of kelp-cloth over their warplate and helms fronted with a silver mask of intricate make. Veterans all of a hundred battles, they took for their arms the krakenhammer, a dreadful piercing weapon crafted from the ever-sharp fang of a leviathan of their homeworld. Paired with a shield, they could keep their foes at bay and deliver punishing blows to crack ceramite with ease and pulverise the bone beneath. Though originally their foes were purely flesh and blood, during the heresy they found their spark of connection to the warp made them exceptionally skilled at battling the neverborn. Guided by their cailleachs, they sought out the possessed and the incarnate to destroy their physical forms and banish their immaterial evil back from where it came.

The Cailleach Guard, elite bodyguards and hunters of the neverborn, for my late heresy/scouring #Krakenborn

They saw the table last week and took down a squad of Gal Vorbak, so I'm very happy with them so far! 😃
