So completely chuffed to have a brilliant review in the @scotnational.bsky.social for #MurderatChristmas
I can't link to it but delighted to say that they think it's a "Young Adult Murder mystery that serves as a perfect introduction to the genre." I'll take that!

Yes! I have a teen who loves alternative music and clothes, and wants to dye her hair and pierce her nose. I think the only difference from my generation is that they’re sharing Spotify playlists now instead of making each other mix tapes 😂🤘

The book I’m querying starts on 10th November - the date I decided to follow the idea. Whatever does or doesn’t happen with the queries, I’ve absolutely loved my year with this book ✨

Not meaning to overlook the amazing YouTubers who promote books already - They are gold! Thinking of the gaming icons specifically and the impact a few mentions from them would have.

Definitely Kpop demon hunters and seconding the YouTuber mentions. If popular YouTubers promoted reading as well as gaming it’d do for MG what BookTok did for YA.

November is for reading or: a month of sheer luxurious intellectual pleasure

I am trying something in November. National novel-reading month, basically. It is the PERFECT month for reading (at least in the Western hemisphere).

I have nothing useful to reply with but can’t pass a nostalgia advert with Partridge quote and not applaud it. Back of the net!

We’re all poorer because of the pandemic and wars and immigration* and there are far fewer billionaires now for the same reason.

Wait, billionaire wealth surged last year*?

I hope 14 is feeling triumphant - this is brilliant!! As should you, raising this lad 👏🏻

Yup. Can you imagine having that much and not feeling morally compelled to share with others? Deserving others too, not like buying social media for evil overlords.

The clocks changed for winter and I woke to a new hankering for slipper wearing, eating roast dinners and drinking mulled wine. Hbu?

Wait a second, so Frankenstein:

• Is immortal
• Sneaks into houses at night
• Sometimes leaves gifts for nice people
• Lives in the North Pole

Well done Nnedi! There’s something friendly and curious about jumping spiders isn’t there - they’re like the kittens of arachnids.

It's all downhill for philosophy!
HISTORIAN Greg Jenner had a useful suggestion for utilitarian
philosopher Jeremy Bentham's preserved body. "I asked [its curator] whether it'd allow for maximum happiness if we could put Bentham in a bobsleigh and push him down the hill at the Winter Olympics," Jenner tells us, as Bentham argued for maximising happiness for the most people. But Jenner, host of the You're Dead to Me podcast, says his suggestion was met by
"disappointment and genuine alarm".

Scrolling through my 5,000 photos on my phone, trying to organise them into albums, and stumbled on this important piece of journalism from 2022 🤣🤣🤣
