my toxic daily warmup is posting long reddit comments about how disco demolition was not, in fact, the end of disco

there are many, many good disco songs for the timeline but today's an especially good day for jackie moore's "this time, baby" in all 11 minutes and six seconds of groove

not once. constantly. not a survey, not looking at behavioral data. listening to people and understanding their world.
i am more convinced than ever that you have to talk to humans and users if you are building something that gives them more than it takes
"it's my personal assistant" is that what we think a personal assistant would do? extremely insulting tbh
why is it that every single "cool" opencl*w implementation is "managing email" and "reminding me to leave for the gym"
reposting: anyone writing about this? i am noticing a shift toward user hostility and i think it is going to get worse
i maintain there will always be value in lofi, it's important upstream work to challenge your understanding and mastery of the problem in a very low stakes and fast way. it also means signficantly less waste when you do get to hifi, and i think we see the process in the output

i think the way figma is built means it might never be able to work with an external tool like this, and the MCP and API approaches are excrutiatingly slow and inefficient
gotta say i'm a bit surprised this is the workflow example they chose (and they're getting cooked in the comments)

a wholly welcome change
distinguishing taste and style was the big one just as far as untangling a mess of terms and lenses - i might try some more layouts and ideas especially because signature, right or wrong, might just not matter
story of my life tbh
both but yes i'm struggling with "signature" - perhaps forcing it into the 2x2
A two by two grid shows Recognition (seeing quality) as a column header 1 and Execution (making quality) as header 2. The first row is "Shared" (learnable, evaluable). In the first cell, it says "Taste" - can they see what's working and what isn't? The next cell says "Craft" - can they solve the problem completely? The second row says "Personal" (individual, emergent). The first cell says Style - what are they drawn to? and the final cell says Signature - what makes their work recognizably theirs?
workshopping this 2x2 for taste/craft/style/signature...?
back when i was interviewing, i recorded myself to practice. now, i'm uploading that take as a resource for others on what a "principal product designer"-level presentation looks like:

this is exactly what i'd show in an interview, so at 25 mins it is a little long.

A black and white photography shows a tree completely toppled over to the right, blocking the right door.
