In 1547 during the Wars of the 'Rough Wooing' the English invasion forces built a V shaped cannon platform at Eyemouth which was later extended. They also built a Fort at Haddington in 1548. Tantallon Castle also added a Ravelin for cannon defense it may have been inspired by these Forts.

John Knox was captured by the French at St Andrews Castle in 1547 & served as a galley slave. At one point he was in Aberlady Bay beside Luffness Castle during the Haddington siege 1548/49. If he had escaped & swam ashore then some locals may have hidden him. #JohnKnox

Bowmore Distillery. The image shows a view of the white-painted buildings of the distillery. There’s a wall left foreground and a gateway on the right. Beyond is a gable end with the name of the distillery and a little further away another building topped off by two tall pagodas. The sky is blue.

Bowmore Distillery, in the heart of the village of Bowmore beside Loch Indaal on the Isle of Islay. It has its own maltings, so the pagodas are not just for show. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

I still use 'Paint' drawing on my old watercolour images as a starting point. But my Son gets upset that I use Grok to add snow and tweak images. He says I should go back to watercolours as I'm teaching Grok how to paint like me in the 1980s! I'm trying to use the machine before it takes over.

My Dad was ground crew during #WW2 & told me many odd stories. They once lost a squadron of Mosquitos not to enemy fire but to a tropical storm in the desert. Hailstones the size of golf balls smashed the airframes to pieces. It couldn't be reported as it was bad for morale.
