Maybe it just takes a loooooong time to self clean? 😏

Hot take: the Seattle Parks no bathrooms policy started with homophobia and finished with homeless hatred. Probably with a side of civic cheapness tossed in.
Every time I bring this issue up, people make excuses for @seattleparksandrec.bsky.social, like for example, “but the pipes might freeze,” as though a bathroom in a park is some wild frontier technology that nobody has ever figured out before.
This is one of the reasons why I shamelessly use archive.is to get past the Seattle Times firewall
If Tacoma Parks can have bathrooms open all day year round, why can’t @seattleparksandrec.bsky.social manage to open bathrooms before Memorial Day?
Just learned that Rob Foxcurran is running for King County Assessor. I wonder where he stands on the massive tax subsidy we give private golf courses?
NASA spotted the Man in the Moon’s eyeball!
Sound Transit spends more on fare enforcement than they lose in skipped fares.
Seattle civic life is rotten. A decade to build an apartment. Because people who live in apartments in a neighborhood of apartments don’t want another apartment. WTF
We’re still talking about the same streets,” said the Seattle Streets Alliance Executive Director Gordon Padelford. Namely Rainier Avenue, Aurora Avenue, Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Lake City Way, and Fourth Ave South, which are areas already flagged by the Seattle Department of Transportation as hot spots for injuries. “And the ingredient that’s been missing has not been a lack of ideas or commitment from SDOT, it’s been a lack of political will.” Specifically, he said, making tough changes to streets that might inconvenience drivers, but ultimately increase safety.

This is why we need to tax wealth. RFK Jr is a trust fund nepo baby who wouldn’t be in a position of power if we made the oligarchs pay their fair share rather than encouraging their parasitic rent seeking on society.
Yesterday, a judge ruled that King County Assessor John Arthur Wilson doesn't have to wear an ankle monitor, intended to ensure that he doesn't violate a no-contact order while he awaits trial on charges of stalking his ex, because of a medical condition he said requires him to soak his legs./1
It is batshit that a store must go through an environmental review to set up shop at a location built out as, zoned as, a store.
Seattle’s civic life is riddled with cancer
The United States is really the shithole country.
More courage than any cop has ever shown.
Nah. Umbrellas work. Only people who complain about them are locals with an self-masochism fetish
For decades, PBS relied on the forthrightness of its reporting to encourage viewer donations. Today PBS is taking a different approach.
And these restrictions serve the public good. Society benefits from these restrictions. We don’t benefit from private golf courses. And so we must not subsidize them. No welfare for oligarchs.
Ah yes. Entitled is what I call someone who can purchase a $800 bike. Definitely not what I call someone who can buy a $50,000 car that requires wars and trillions of dollars in infrastructure to use.
Yes, people didn’t trust her politics which is why inexplicably they chose even worse politics.
The propaganda had nothing to do with it at all.
It’s the wrong color of gray though 😏
Ah yes. It was famously the neoliberalism that caused people to choose the rapist, rather than the relentless propaganda positioning Her Emails as a larger problem than fascism.
“What did you think ‘mass deportation’ meant?”
Kinda funny to see an old journalist like Danny, whose relentless bothsidesing of every political issue helped normalize Tump, wonder out loud how voters could have been so misinformed.
Look in the mirror, Danny. The news media did this.

We’re redeveloping a golf course into a vibrant 4,000+ residence community in the heart of San Diego, on light rail, it’s awesome, would love to see other west coast cities do the same!
The golf courses are zoned single family and have been for decades. It seems the “highest and best use” has already been decided
So let’s just tax them at the single family parcel value for Broadmoor & Sandpoint areas
That value is $200+ per square foot. Or about $10M per course per year in taxes
