Seems that e-bike also might play a role, but the type of bike is not always registered. At least 41% of the casualties was riding an e-bike.

The government is monitoring the experiments, so there is actually data on how the number of invalid votes is among the broader public:

cast a valid ballot, but to not vote on the person - or worse - party that they intended to vote on. This is really hard to study though. The government is conducting evaluations of the field tests. For me to come by is a bit cumbersome :-)
The 0.6 percent is pretty high if you compare it to the baseline of the old ballot, which is 0.2-0.25. And then taking into consideration that people in your district have become used to it, that suggests that it might not drop further. And one other issue that is now not studied: how many people >>
Yesterday The Netherlands held its municipal elections. The current ballots are the size of a table cloth, and I was interviewed by Dutch public radio about the field test of a new, smaller ballot. The new A3-sized two-stepped ballot also has its disadvantages...

Today I learned that both Crazy Frog and José González are Swedish.
This is an absolutely delightful instagram account on architecture, that I have been enjoying for quite some time now. Architecture professor Kevin Hüi and architect Kevin Maynard give you tours of famous buildings, explaining thoughts, principles and details. www.instagram.com/archimarathon/
Ha, briljante poster iig.
And the reaction from the spokesperson for Migrationsverket: "We cannot look after the child's interests, because there is no legal basis for that." One would expect *some* degree of common sense or compassion, but no, apparently.
De eeuwige liefde nog wel. Jongens toch.

Out now (open access) in npj Sustainable Mobility & Transport: 16‑month action research on co‑creation of real‑world air-rail integration. We identify 9 system & collaboration tensions and call for an orchestrator + EU role. 🛫🚆🤝 www.nature.com/articles/s44...

So I guess now we’re all just waiting for the Nobel Committee to announce their Footballer of the Year award. apnews.com/article/trum...
Visualization showing the connection between an air transportation and rail transportation system. On the left a blue circle with on its edge node airports and one (multimodal) hub airport. The hub airport is also part on the rail system on the right, symbolized by a yellow circle, and that has node stations on its edge. Arrows symbolize a multimodal air journey going through both systems.
New study out! Multimodal air-rail travel involves friction as passengers cross system boundaries. 8 factors shape experience, from guidance to transfer time & comfort. Multimodal journeys need cohesive design.

We zitten in een bizarre situatie dat de overheid software “aan de markt” overlaat maar dat we ondertussen als burger niks te kiezen hebben.
Congratulations! (and %€&(" them trolls).
Through my blog I actually also got quite a lot of feedback that helped me sharpen my research, and improve the card set with recommendations I developed. Interestingly I now get to supervise a PhD candidate who has a much more advanced blog and dissemination/dialog network.
📅 Wednesday December 10, 10:00–12:00
📍 IDE Arena, Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering
No signup needed.
In the afternoon, Aniek Toet will defend her PhD thesis ‘Where it Connects: Towards Passenger-Oriented Multimodal Transport at Airports’ in the Aula (15:00–17:00).
- Margareta Friman (Service Research Center, Karlstad University): Life events and the exploration of new multimodal mobility
- Manuela Triggianese (Architecture, TU Delft): Railway stations as hubs
- Peter Vink (Industrial Design Engineering, TU Delft): Seats, vehicles and waiting rooms >>
Short presentations, followed by lots of interaction and questions for the panel.
The Speakers
- Wijnand Veeneman (TPM, TU Delft): Why has MaaS not (yet) delivered on its promise?
- Guillaume Burghouwt (Schiphol Group): A cornerstone of aviation’s success: the hub-and-spoke model >>
Therefore we bring together researchers who explore the next steps in multimodal mobility: from the promise (and limits) of Mobility as a Service (MaaS), to how life events shape people’s travel behavior; from stations as urban nodes to aviation’s powerful hub-and-spoke model. >>
Societies are aiming for more sustainable and human-centered transport systems. To achieve this, different modes - trains, bicycles, buses, shared & automated vehicles - need to connect physically, digitally, and organizationally. In other words: they need to become a seamless multimodal system. >>
The future of mobility is (even more) multimodal. Seminar with leading mobility researchers Wednesday December 10, 10:00-12:00, IDE Arena, Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, TU Delft
Next month a unique group of leading mobility researchers will assemble at TU Delft. They are the opponents for Aniek Toet’s PhD defense on multimodality in and around airports - and since we have them all in one place, we’re taking the opportunity to look ahead together. >>
Those wonderful blogging times :-) I started when I was already working on my PhD, didn't know that yours actually helped you to land one.
