Despite molecular diagnostics for TB, 40% of patients are still diagnosed clinically. We also found a 50% higher mortality in this group, suggesting overtreatment/missing conditions other than TB. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... @imperialinfect.bsky.social @uniheidelberg.bsky.social
Excited to be presenting an outline of our @ec.europa.eu funded B-Path programme to advance breath-based diagnostics for respiratory infections at PREPARE-EU @uniheidelberg.bsky.social @cdenki.bsky.social @digbywarner.bsky.social
BreathForDx is a EU-funded research initiative aimed at improving early diagnosis of respiratory infections through exhaled breath aerosol (XBA) sampling. It combines non-invasive diagnostic innovation with clinical research to detect tuberculosis and viral infections.

Well done Bianca and team. Great to see this work out. Agree- would be good to see urine Xpert accessible for inpatients
🚨New Publication🚨 led by @biancasossen.bsky.social
In a 7 country study, we found that urine Xpert Ultra was as sensitive & more specific than AlereLAM for #TB diagnosis in people with #HIV
Also predicts mortality and allows detection of Rif resistance.
