I think Americans have to get ready for the national psychological blow from Trump that the Japanese felt after losing WW2 and the Spanish felt after losing the Spanish-American War: loss of empire, loss of relevance, loss of strength, shame.

It also ignores the threats that he *did* make good on. DOGE, mass deportations, protesters shot in the streets, the military occupations of American cities, the list goes on.

You have every right to be outraged because it’s all outrageous. And anyone who tells you otherwise is complicit.

Just because Donald Trump has surrendered his fight to destroy the world doesn't mean he's not a threat to US government and society internally. That's still the thing to worry about.

While Trump's assertion that "a whole civilization will die tonight" represents a discrete threat of genocide against Iran, the fact that it comes from a U.S. president, while Congress does nothing, actually represents a broader civilizational collapse — whether he follows through or not.

You know what pisses me off most about MAGA influencers who are now turning on Trump? They act all high and mighty, like "You see? I figured it out cuz I'm smart." No, man. It took you this long to figure it out because you're fucking stupid.

One of the most blatant forms of Christian hypocrisy in our time is Christians holding all ordinary people accountable to the most rigid moral standards while simultaneously holding themselves and the president accountable to no standards at all.
