I haven’t read the article but anecdotally, in the Seattle mom Facebook groups, this is very popular, specifically for households with two working parents. Would love to see some actual research on it!

Sorry moments like this (and many others involving religion of late) are just supremely frustrating for scholars of religion in the US who have been begging to be taken seriously by the public--and their own colleagues--for years.
I always hear the argument “Google will just give you an AI summary that’s wrong too!” and I mean, just don’t use the summary? I go to the appropriate link and check there. I also assume the Google AI summary is wrong…
I really don’t get it either—both searches take roughly the same amount of time and I’m far less likely to get the wrong answer with one.
do any of my followers happen to be experienced with biology/medical research? my musicological brain is drowning and i need a life raft
I don't know y’all, I don't think today is a good day for April Fool’s jokes.
Today is your last chance to nominate your favorite book, article, or public-facing scholarship for an SMT publication award! Don't be shy -- nominate work that you enjoyed and don't hesitate to self-nominate. societymusictheory.org/grants/publi...
It’s actually not okay to pay someone with a PhD $2500 to teach a college course
Once upon a time, you'd go to give a talk at another university and a nice administrator would hand you a W-9 to sign and they'd send you a check in the mail for the honorarium.
Now you have to spend a half hour entering data on a Special Contractor Website that was designed in a lab by sadists.
After having my flight cancelled due to weather, I am FINALLY leaving Richmond!!!
Musicology friends: I'll be at SAM this week (arriving Wednesday night, leaving Saturday afternoon), so if you'll be there and want to talk to me about editing or indexing, let me know!
Anyway, SAM Richmond here I come!
They have been selling this exact night gown in the SeaTac airport since at least 2004.
But yeah…the program this year is incredible.
You know my vote!!
I tried to get back off of a down escalator after I realized my friend was coming up the opposite direction. I fell, needed stitches, and had to take the most intense antibiotics.
Bring back statement necklaces. Relics of a better time. Dainty little minimalist stuff looks terrible on me.
When I don’t feel like I’m doing a good job, but people keep telling me I’m doing a good job, why do I feel worse?
Just a few more days to submit proposals for the Music & Labor Symposium (May 15–17 at the Friday Harbor Laboratories at the University of Washington)!
Details at the link -- please share widely. I'd love to review lots of proposals! (Yes, really!)

Megan is my middle name, my first name is Christina. It’s extremely common in my family to go by your middle name—I do, my brother does, both grandparents, quite a few cousins. But I’ll tell you, it’s a pain in the butt. No way I was doing it to my kids.
My son is OBSESSED with Little Golden Books. So, instead of autograph books I bought Disneyland-themed LGBs for my kids to have characters sign. I thought I was being sooooo creative. No joke, the first thing we went to was a character meal and the table next to us did the same thing!! Humbled.
I once listened to a woman argue that she wanted to wear her computer glasses to drive. The optician tried to tell her numerous times how unsafe it was.
“How will you read the signs on I5?”
“I don’t need to read them—I already know what they say!”
I used to work at an optical and the amount of people that would leave insisting they didn’t need glasses to drive and go get immediately behind the wheel was baffling.
The inability of kids to sleep in on the weekend (even when sick!) should be studied!
You never hear about anyone else of Bingen.
This is very important to me.
Hey just a philosopher noting that the original academic meaning of “performative” is that words aren’t just symbols but DO things in the world.
Comes in a two pack at Costco!
A very "lets stone Cassandra" kind of day. Whew.
Alligator Bites Never Heal still really hits for me. Any albums you’re going back to lately?
