As a member of the search committee, it's incredibly gratifying to see this go live. TEC clergy, now is the time to discern whether you might be called to lead our vibrant new diocese. It's a wonderful place!
I'm still mostly off bsky for now, but my Signal is in my pfp if you have questions. ⚓

Thus begins my Lenten social media fast!
I'll probably check in on a very limited basis, particularly when there's a reason associated with my work. Otherwise, see you on/after Easter.
Just remembering the lovely door decorations my wife made that year ⚓
Hey friends, Lent starts this week! So if you're new to Lent or have spent a lot of time worrying that your Lenten practice is 1) not good enough or b) not something you actually can commit to doing, here are some tips from someone who has very much so been in the same boat!
I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.
I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

People can have different political opinions about immigration policy. Political differences are fine, healthy for a democracy.
But if you’re okay with this, that’s not a political opinion. That is a moral failing.

Photo of an open hand with a black plastic rectangular object resting on the palm. The object is smaller than the palm, and the words "crucial micron" are printed on it.
I'm pretty jaded about technology in general but it's absolutely blowing my mind that this is a 2 TB SSD
The Super Bowl is a prominent pat of American culture that we enjoy in many different ways, from getting together with friends to watch it to announcing publicly that we will not be watching it and don‘t even watch football at all.
A poem titled Communion There's no bread. The bakers have gone into hiding. The seats at the table are empty. The Twelve are out marching with the thousands. The streets are filled with a new song. Only Judas sits at Target Plaza, counting his silver, While Pontius Pilate issues a carefully-worded statement. Meanwhile, the centurians have quotas to fill. But out in the streets there's a Communion. Jesus takes the city in his hands and says, "This is my body, broken for you." Rob Hardy, Feb 2, 2026
Fr @cebm.bsky.social shared this on his facebook. Its a poem by Rob Hardy, a former poet laureate in Northfield, MN.
Powerful poem. ⚓️
Love finding out about a boil water advisory after I've already been drinking water and making coffee

Aw man. I waited too long to have a major Dead kick
Alright, I REALLY loved this movie. One of the best and most real portrayals of faith, church, and DEFINITELY a member of the clergy I've ever seen in popular media.
I'm briefly paused about a half hour into Wake Up Dead Man and wow, as a parish priest it hits almost uncomfortably hard. I've been, like, viscerally angry on behalf of the main character.
My first adult ed class on heresies was so well-received that I think I'm going to do another one this spring. Toying with 2 Heresies 2 Furious: Get in Loser; We're Doing Pelagianism as a title. ⚓

It's weird to me that I haven't heard any commentators point out that no childcare professional would EVER let a random guy "see the children"

It's striking how many tech companies and products are named for *evil* (or at least used-for-evil) bits of Tolkien's universe
