⚡️ EVs—now £785 cheaper upfront than their gas equivalents—have hit a 'true' milestone in the U.K., according to data from Autotrader.
🇨🇦🚙 "Drivers are now paying roughly $20 to $25 more each time they fill up their tanks. I, on the other hand, am saving $500 a month—and that’s because, for the last three years, I’ve been driving an electric vehicle," writes @joannakyriazis.bsky.social.

🇨🇦⚡️ "Fed up with depending on oil and gas imports from the Gulf nations and an increasingly unstable America, Asian economies are doubling down on efforts to onshore their energy needs, and this means doubling down on clean energy," write our Mark Zacharias and @joannakyriazis.bsky.social. #bcpoli
🇨🇦🔌 "The removal of the Fuel Excise Tax between now and Labour Day will save the average gas car driver roughly $77, or $17 per month for less than five months. That’s compared to $250 per month indefinitely for EV drivers," says @racheldoran.bsky.social.

📈 Heat pump orders have more than doubled, while solar power system sales and EV leases are all up significantly since the war.
"British families are tired of being held hostage by global fossil fuel prices. We’re seeing a massive shift as people take matters into their own hands," says one expert.

🍁🔌 By locking in competitive 20-year power contracts for 12 solar and two wind projects, Ontario is helping ensure long-term price stability for households as demand rises, says Clean Energy Canada's @evanpivnick.bsky.social.
“The math on buying an EV was already good, but it just got even better,” says Clean Energy Canada's @racheldoran.bsky.social.

And depending on your commute, the fuel savings alone can really add up:
As you can see, EVs are the biggest driver of those cost savings—and with high gas prices and more EV affordable models on the horizon, their cost advantage is only growing.
For example, the Chevrolet Equinox EV:
🔌🚙🍁 NEW REPORT: Typical two-car households can save hundreds of dollars a month by electrifying their homes and vehicles, according to a new Clean Energy Canada report.
Here's what those savings look like across Canada:
🔌📈 U.K. EV sales rose to a record high last month, as high gas prices push regular people into electrified vehicles, said one expert.
"We’ve seen enquiries for electric cars jump 36% once prices started climbing. People are doing the maths in real time," said another.
🇨🇦 Canada’s new EV rebate, with its $50,000 price cap, effectively targets models with the biggest price gaps between their electric and gas equivalents—a “fair and targeted” way to improve access to middle-class vehicles, says Clean Energy Canada.

🍁🔌 B.C.’s updated EV sales regulation—while less ambitious than before—still delivers where it matters, helping keep British Columbians among the first in line for the best EV models available in Canada, says Clean Energy Canada's @joannakyriazis.bsky.social.

🌏☀️📈 Renewables—driven by record solar growth last year—now make up 49.4% of global electricity capacity.
The world may now be "very close" to tripling renewables by 2030, a target set by more than 100 countries at COP28.

🇨🇦🇺🇸⚡️ "Canada must take steps to diversify away from the U.S.’s backwards approach and align with a world where 30% of new car sales are expected to be electric this year,” says @joannakyriazis.bsky.social.

In this week's Clean Energy Review: What Canadian heat pump owners are saying, how EV economics just improved, and extreme heat continues to break records. #cdnpoli
❌ Myth: Heat pumps can’t handle Canadian winters.
✅ Fact: During the weekend of a winter storm that hit -20°C, 92% of Ontario heat pump owners surveyed still said they would recommend one to a friend or neighbour.

Their top reason—bill savings—proved true for many, especially those switching from oil or electric heating.
Their top three reasons for getting a heat pump in the first place:
🇨🇦🔌 NEW REPORT: Clean Energy Canada and Summerhill surveyed nearly 3,800 Canadian heat pump owners. Here’s what they said:
💸📈 A new Deloitte report finds that, without intervention, projected global warming “would cost the average (Australian) millennial about $130,000 over the rest of their lives, increasing to $165,000 for gen Z.”
