"Good morning, Claude Code. Let's expand the API for Colossus to include a persistent connection to Guardian via QUIC."

I deep respect the work you do, and you know this space better than I would in a century of research, so please understand that this question is in best-possible-faith:
Is it possible to reign in Meta et al. in a way that does *not* do damage to the internet? What are some directions?
There are 100 things you need to know about using AI productively in systems engineering, and 98 of them have the word "context" in them.
"Doing bad things" and "failing to do what you can to prevent others from doing those things" are both not-good things. However, the first is (in the technical sense) categorically worse than the second, and failure to realize this is kind of an Internet disease right now.
Hyperion has been sitting on my shelf unread since I bought back in the 90s. Good to know that I can move it off my TBR list!
I've come to the conclusion that basically Abrams holds his audience in contempt regardless of what he's working on. There's this oozing sense of, "Oh, you like *that*, your dumb-asses? Here's more of it! You'll lap up anything, won't you?" in Lost, in his Star Wars stuff, his Star Trek stuff.
The activity menu on @dropbox.com has been broken since at least 2021. Their AI support chatbot is offensive. If a former CTO is boosting Claude, Anthropic is doomed. giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...
Welcome to the Federal rules on hearsay.
They're going to hand a huge pile of cash to a bunch of mafia goons on the promise that they peel off a couple of $20s for an anger-management class.

"If you don't buy that thing you don't want, we won't be able to afford to make it" is quite the sales pitch. Very compelling.
Every time someone says, "Look, I agree ICE is bad, but they aren't the same as the SS-Totenkopfverbände because of <some reason>," ICE reacts with, "Oh, right! Thanks for the reminder."

That and "Can't Help Myself" are two of the most emotional pieces of art I've ever encountered.

Strong "suicide is a crime punishable by death" vibes here.
It's fascinating watching people who simply did not understand that most of what they thought of organic engagement was just the result of promotion algorithms, suddenly be confronted with an actual realistic distribution of opinions.
“ YIMBYs have a stranglehold on the left.”
Counterpoint: all of coastal California.
OK, that's slightly better (very slightly better) than what I had originally understood, which was that they presented the original three count indictment to the foreperson.
It's still astonishing incompetence, though.
"Hiring *an* engineer," emphasis mine.
How hard can it be, after all? Just roll out MediaWiki on a GoDaddy VM.
"You are attempting to use the Federal court system of the United States of America to do *what*, now?" is the line that went through my head.
Anyone who thinks of Larry Summers, now or in the past, as on "our team" needs to seriously reconsider the team membership criteria. He has always been, publicly and obviously, a horrible person. on.ft.com/49nkoWe
There are no words for how evil this is
One of the great things about this modern world is that a statement can be both something a technologist actually said in all seriousness, and at the same time technobabble in that it really isn't meaningful in any serious sense, it's just what people say to each other to sound like they're smart.
FYI this is what you do when your business is great and you are very liquid and creditworthy
Ah, yes, Mississippi, that cerulean-blue state.
how about no
I notice you never hear someone shooting a cop as, "Some say that the suspect's response to threatened arrest might have been heavy-handed."
"We are completely in favor of measures to end racism so long as they are time limited and [checks watch] that time ended about 15 minutes ago. What are the odds?" -- Five Supreme Court justices.
(I hate Thomas with the heat of a thousand suns, but at least he's honest about what he's doing.)
Oops, sorry! Palomacy might still be able to answer questions, if you are still taking care of the pij.
I mean, I'm not a Christian, but the one thing I know about Jesus is his consistent policy of, "Fuck the poor, they're getting what's coming to them."
