Flint’s Capitol Theatre had a similar update in recent years. I saw many punk and metal shows there when it was falling apart in the late 80s/early 90s and now it’s all restored and respectable.

Puscifer put on a good show as always, but focused a bit too much on new stuff for my taste last night. (I’m old and their 2010 tour is my favorite.) They skipped Vagina Mine and Life of Brian, but did play Conditions of My Parole and The Arsonist, so they are forgiven. [flashing lights in video]
Gorgeous!
Lansing folks will appreciate Suban’s poem “Aging Roads.”
It’s true, but I just had the leftovers for breakfast and they were also very good.
Agreed! It deserves a lot more than four photos, but I went right before sunset and my pics are all stark shadows.
Painted tiles with strangely grinning faces in an outdoor setting. Some have old modified phones on top. A sign says”The YOU NEW’S.”
A large sign is hand painted with “The Time is Now.” A cartoonish naked lady is painted next to it. A smiling face with a bar for eyes is painted on the sidewalk with a heart.
A large pile of a variety of kinds of footwear is haphazardly piled in front of a stack of shopping carts. A wood piece in the foreground is painted with a red plus sign on an abstract background.
A house covered in brightly colored painted polka dots.
Artist Tyree Guyton’s open-air installation, the Heidelberg Project, in Detroit’s McDougall Hunt neighborhood. So much to see!
WHY IS LIFE NOT JUST MAKING FUN STUFF WITH PEOPLE CHEERING YOU ON, AND CHEERING ON OTHER PEOPLE MAKING FUN STUFF!!!
I WANT TO TALK TO THE MANAGER
Puscifer! It’s been a little bit since we were there, too—I think maybe John Oliver was the last visit?
That must have been an excellent venue to see him!
It’s pretty stunning!
Yes!
It’s very sad that they weren’t able to make additional copies—they don’t make them like that anymore!
A pita stuffed with chicken shawarma, tomatoes, French fries, cabbage, and other goodness from Bucharest Grill in Detroit.
Late night shawarma. 🍜
A gold elephant and chandelier top an outrageously ornate piece above a theater stage.
A gilded ceiling with lots of details.
The ceiling of an old theater with a beautiful glass light and lots of ornamentation.
Fox Theatre is very pretty in a completely over-the-top way.
A section of an old bookstore with seemingly random but well organized collections. A Folio Society shelf is on the left, followed by a case of small rare items from around the world.
Shelves and shelves of some of the collection of art books. The floor is damaged and the shelves don’t match. It smells exactly like it looks.

Shelves filled with beautifully bound old books.
If you’re in Detroit, King Bookstore is one of my favorite places on the planet. You could spend weeks looking at all of the books and not see everything, and you never know what you’ll find. Amazing collection and prices.
Exterior window and door of Peoples Records. A hand painted sign with the store name says buy, sell, trade, 45s, LPs, 78s.
Many, many boxes and crates of vinyl records. A wall of boxes are colorfully decorated with soul and jazz labels.
Peoples Records Detroit has a lot of soul if you’re looking for a place to visit on record store day. I found an Iron Maiden 45 in their tiny metal collection.
I hope they help!
Yikes! Everything is feeling apocalyptic in general lately—we don’t need additional visual vibes.
That’s really weird! ???
Seems really early! But I got a mosquito bite last night, so maybe not.
I can’t pass too much judgement on the deer, they are pretty tasty. But I do hope you get a better haul next year!
😍 I made sugar with the three flowers I was able to snag last year—I’m hoping I can get enough for cookies this time around. They look great!
Did you make @blackforager.bsky.social’s magnolia cookies?! I’ve been wanting to try them! I need to sneak some petals off a tree in the median in my neighborhood.
Three fused glass pieces. One has birds that look a bit like turtles flying in a circle over green landscape. A blue slumped flower with a black center. And an abstract coaster with fields of peachy, greenish and white fields of color.
A clear glass square covered in small pieces of peachy, greenish, and white glass.
A hand sprinkles small bits of glass onto a large glass piece. Small pieces of colored glass are set up to look like flying sparrows and a green field.

Had a fun fused glass workshop with two of my sisters at Art Unlimited in Okemos. I wasn’t crazy about the color options, but everything turned out well. 🧶
You should watch Parks & Rec if you haven’t seen it! The first season is terrible, but it eventually gets really funny.
I have family in Barneveld who were just in the basement with a warning. Sounds like things are calming down, but yikes!
Here’s everything you need to know: youtu.be/NqZMcvd0yjo?...
Purple hyacinth flowers.
Yellow daffodil flowers.
Spring flowers in Michigan. Saw my first bumblebee of the season tonight. 🌱
50s here, but I don’t think anyone would find that surprising!
