I am curious if you think any of the nasal sprays (VirX, for eg) are worth using to reduce the risk of getting COVID! Thank you for doing this!!

I’m curious about the US cuts to cancer research. How bad is that for world cancer research? And especially do you have thoughts about how allegedly close researchers were to a real advance in pancreatic cancer treatment?

Citizenship as Reparations: Should the victims of historical injustice be offered membership? - Page 6 of 6 - Globalcit Kickoff contribution by David Owen and Rainer Bauböck. ❗New Entry❗

Reparative citizenship may aim to right past wrongs, but @peterspiro.bsky.social argues it actually weakens the foundational concept of citizenship itself 🛂⚖️

It is unsentimental, instrumental, detached from the community and erodes civic ties 🧑‍🤝‍🧑🚫

I don’t doubt that some of my co-religionists have experienced antisemitism. Sometimes aggressively so.

But it’s use as a cudgel to destroy institutions essential to our country has absolutely nothing to do with that.

🚨 @pattitlenard.bsky.social & Jocelyn Kane join the Debate⚡

Reparations aren’t just about citizenship, what if refusal is the remedy?

Settler states 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇦🇺 must recognise Indigenous Peoples' right to reject colonial citizenship while ensuring access to services & recognition

Ottawa’s homeless population has more than doubled since 2021 There are almost 3,000 people in Ottawa experiencing homelessness, according to new data released by the city. On Oct. 23 dozens of volunteers canvassed the municipality for the Point-in-Time (PiT) count, a snapshot of the number of people living without a home. It is a national effort that helps governments and agencies understand the number […]

Shame on the handful of people who wore their expensive winter gear to city hall yesterday to protest the establishment of overflow refugee shelters in their communities.

More than 3,000 people are homeless in Ottawa.

I’m what I hope is at least half way through my first Covid infection - and I have to say, everything about this experience makes me confused about why we have decided to let it run rampant when we could … not.

The City of Ottawa has a gorgeous history of welcoming those fleeing oppression - and we can and should draw on that history to continue to do so.

Thank you to the *16* people who responded so thoughtfully to my defence of mandatory citizenship oaths. Below is my attempt at a response! Short version: citizenship oaths build trust and formalize new political affiliations in ways that newcomers find meaningful.

Will do. You’ve been a trusted voice for us during this whole nonsense, and thank you for that

Thanks Davia! We read this, and it just says that folks should wait til they test negative on 2 RAPs over 48 hours, which is ok. But after 17 days, I was just wondering if that is still what we ought to do. Feels like a long time and we all miss our guy! But don’t want to put us or others at risk

Fair. Problem for us is that OPH just says five days and you’re free so hard to know what the responsible thing to do is.
