Which probably isn't a big deal if I do it once or twice. But if I get in a habit of it, I can see that brain muscle atrophying pretty quickly.

I've been thinking about this a lot. When I write a blog, slide deck, etc, it forces me to organize my thoughts and makes the topic more clear to me. It also exercises an "organizing" muscle in my brain.

When I use AI, I miss out on these benefits.

Don't Let AI Write For You

Don’t Let AI Write For You alexhwoods.com/dont-let-ai-...

"Letting an LLM write for you is like paying somebody to work out for you."

Great, short read for writers (and thinkers).

The left panel is titled AI - MASTER OF ENGINE & CREATION and features a sophisticated, human-like android robot with detailed internal circuits and a glowing brain. Floating text around the robot says - REWRITING GAME ENGINES with a small video screen, GENERATING REALISTIC VIDEO/IMAGES with code on a screen, and CONFIDENCE - 100%. The right panel is titled AI - FRONT-END CSS FAIL and shows a cluttered desk with a distressed small robot next to a frustrated human man pointing aggressively at a computer screen. The computer displays a chaotic webpage full of broken layout elements and a giant black void called a gaping hole. The small robot has a speech bubble that says - I'M DONE! THE FEATURE IS COMPLETE. Floating text phrases on the right side are - BESPOKE INTERACTION NIGHTMARE, CSS IS HARD, YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, CAN'T RENDER, LLM CAN'T MATH. The human has a mug with </> and nerdy.dev written on it.

Why does AI suck at front-end?

🗑️ trained on garbage
👀 it can't see
❓ it doesn't know why
🏞️ no environmental control

there's no human v20.2.1 to target. we're a LLM combinatorial explosion

IMHO, the “SDC slots can set expectations and cardinality” #drupal issue that @mike.herchel.com and others have been working on is a big deal.

I wish Safari would clean up their CSS columns implementation. *Every* time I work with this, I have to test and fix various quirks.

Can't really use this stuff until all three browser engines are on board.

p75 and p90 JavaScript bytes on the web have exploded since May, 2025—easily the largest 10 month period based on HTTP Archive data since 2023.

The long-tail is getting worse, very quickly.

Gemini, what happened in May 2025?

una.im | Automated Accessible Text with contrast-color() Let the browser pick the most readable text color for any background with this new CSS function.

contrast-color() is landing in Chrome 147, making it Baseline Newly Available in all modern browsers

It takes any color value and returns either black or white: whichever provides the highest contrast against the input

Works great with generated colors, state changes, etc.

If PWAs succeed, Apple loses out on literally billions of dollars in app store revenue (not to mention control).

Its intentional.

Screenshot of result of 0.0041 - Genuinely remarkable. You sailed past the theoretical human limit like it owed you money. I'd accuse you of cheating but I don't actually know how you'd cheat at this.

This is amazing, and solves a huge issue that I've ran into more than once! One key point would be to have a canonical polyfill so we could easily gracefully degrade
