A rundown of what I saw and enjoyed at the Overlook Film Festival last weekend:

It’s pretty much the raddest family ever 😍

I have so many posts mentally written about how much you've made my life easier, I want to shout it from the rooftops, I just need you to schedule social media time for me 🤣
I must never stop reminding myself that I am surrounded by brilliant, creative, trustworthy and generous people, and that means I'll never truly be in over my head.
(So many other folks apply here! I'm just mentioning the three who posted something nice on this thread 🥰)
You know what's wild and lovely and important? Every time I think I'm in over my head, I reach out to someone like @brianwcollins.bsky.social, @thatwitchmia.bsky.social or @gayofthedead.bsky.social for help. They lighten my load and make everything feel doable. BUT they seem to appreciate it, too?
that looks nice
I dunno, man, I think you did it
I'm going to be honest, "The Pope vs. the President" feels like the kind of thing Dan Brown would exclaim as he sits bolt upright, ripped from sleep in the middle of the night.
ooh I'd love to!
I predicted someone like Trump many years ago, in THE DEAD ZONE. So now I'm saying this--in the next 12-16 months, we're going to find out if the two machines for the removal of a man unable to fulfill his duties actually work. They are impeachment and the 25th amendment. He is deeply unwell .
My favorite shopboi!
Four people (my husband Matt, my friends Erica and Rachel, and me) in coats, smiling in front of a gorgeous high-up view of Salzburg, mountains behind us.
“I want to see mountains again, Gandalf, mountains!”
Sharpening that saw the best way I know how:

I was a ghost writer for a nationally syndicated sex therapist. I also house-sat for her, took care of her ancient beagle, and worked at her retail shop, among 3 other jobs I was juggling. Ahh, college.
I've written and co-edited a whole stack of film crit books since 2011, with two more coming this year.
If the intersection of genre (especially horror and exploitation) and genre is of interest, gee whiz do I have the books for you 💜

Now I just need a dog
I made a dumb joke about a dog named Arf Arfunkel and now I can’t stop thinking about it.
…Arf. Arfunkel.
Love to see a Fango headline and IMMEDIATELY know it’s BC:
Really *unique* outtake from my interview with Lee Cronin for Fango Issue #31 plus sign up to see THE MUMMY early? Go right now.
(A pic of a middle aged man made up as a scary vampire) MONSTROUS MUSINGS Lost Boys (and Girls, and Women, and Men, and...) By Phil Nobile Jr. I read an interesting thing the other day that said "Respect isn't earned; it's lost." Now, I tried to source this quote but as you know, Google is all but useless, and besides: if it ends up being originated by some d-bag manosphere guy or something, that's going to derail my whole thesis. So let's all agree it's a fine place to start and that someone great and wise said it first. Cool? Cool.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Find out what it means to me, in today’s Terror Teletype.

this one lives inside me for eternity, I will remember it after I have forgotten my own name
Well if this isn't something else. @beckysayers.bsky.social's short "All Kinds of Animals" premieres on Screambox Bloody Bites on April 10th!
Matttttt thank you!!!
love you, bud!
More scoop about FANGORIA Comics' horror anthology Issue 0. The first comic legend we're announcing is FERAL's Tony Fleecs, and the rest of the names are just as major! It's a big day for us, and I'm so proud and thankful.

Well, we've reached a stretch goal I never in 1 million years thought possible. Thanks to 10,628 backers, we're releasing an exclusive Fango anthology comic!
I continue to be inspired, motivated and awed by the support y'all have shown this project.
If you want the comic, only one way to get it!👇
Ok, new goal.
A scary lady with exaggerated makeup lying on a pillow on her side MONSTROUS MUSINGS "Camp" Is Not A Dirty Word By Michael Varrati (Editor's note: This week I'm passing the Monstrous Musings mic to my friend and colleague, filmmaker Michael Varrati. We've been commenting on the state of the industry via text and phone calls for years, and a piece of news this week sparked an interesting dialogue, so l encouraged Michael to write down his thoughts about it. He did not disappoint! - PN)
It’s always so nice to hear people say they enjoy my weekly editorials in the Fango newsletter. But the ones *I* get excited for are the guest editorials, and this week is a banger from @michaelvarrati.bsky.social - go read it!

🚨 Fangoria horror comics!! 🚨
This has been on my wish list for years!
I have a lot of very cool and exciting projects happening at work, but what this post presupposes is, maybe they didn't all have to happen AT ONCE
