Happy #Mar10 Day! Our favorite Mario memory is easily performing "Break Free" from SMO at @magfest.org with an 11-piece band @christianrmusic.bsky.social @allisonmartintrombone.com @ericltrombone.com after 6 years of dreaming this tune up!
We're racing for the goal and no one can stop us now 🍄

Everyone, I have an original EP.
It's called Aoede Hums, and I've been using it as my personal anthem for almost four years to celebrate my uniqueness and validity as a musician and as a human.
It's dedicated to my dad, who passed away last year but always supported me and my music. Please enjoy.

Wanna see us play more shows? Tell us what events you want to see us at (and tell those events you want to see us there)!
We may have missed MAGFest, but we were making big moves at JEN.
We're proud to present our take on "Wet Hands" from Minecraft!

This Friday at 2PM ET, we step into the world of Minecraft. youtu.be/63tGP1waNsc
TRUE (thanks!)
Some life updates besides Split Screen at JEN:
-I have one semester left in my master’s degree at UNT
-I’ve written more music than I have been able to keep track of this year
-I’m one more godawful development in AI away from starting a movement to publicly shame AI users at every possible turn
A lot of people who follow me on here already know this, but in case you somehow didn't: video game music IS a real artform, and as far as I'm concerned it DEFINITELY has a home in jazz.
Thanks for coming to my late-night musings (because they should NEVER give me a TED Talk).
Absolutely wild to me that in about a month and a half, I'll be bringing @splitscreenvgm.bsky.social to JEN to perform video game music... If you told the version of me from 10 years ago that had just started arranging video game music THIS is where it'd take him, he wouldn't believe you.
Do YOU want to help us make history? Split Screen will be the first video game music band ever to perform at the Jazz Education Network Conference: if you want to help us get there, consider contributing to our travel expenses via GoFundMe!

Have you heard our version of "Lavender Town?" Nothing scarier than a jazz band playing borderline metal music!

We are thrilled to share that we've been invited to perform at the 17th Annual Jazz Education Network Conference in New Orleans, LA! We’re very excited to be bringing video game jazz fusion to JEN for the very first time this January.
A group like this coming from all over the continent is NOT cheap: if you have a few dollars to spare & would like to contribute, consider donating to our Ko-Fi or getting our music on Bandcamp to help offset travel expenses!

@thegamebrass.com was honored with “Best Acoustic/Chamber” by the #GMRA for our arrangement of Secret of the Forest. So proud of our now 10 albums, and even prouder to be recognized by our peers. Thanks @vgmcon.bsky.social for hosting the awards. Haven't heard our 200+ covers? Check us out!
If I had a dollar for every time I came across an Instagram reel or TikTok including incorrectly transcribed or poorly engraved sheet music, I could retire. I feel like if you’re going to put a transcription out into the world, you should feel a responsibility to make sure it’s accurate!
out of anyone, you definitely have the most right to say this
Today I’ve researched quantum mechanics, Japanese poetry, and the lore of Neon Genesis Evangelion. How is anime from the 90s the most dense of those three things?
📢 Announcement! I'm interested in writing music for games, so I thought it might be a good idea to just... write some video game music.

I've known so many musicians for so many years, and somehow Spotify was the way I finally found out that I would like Polyphia. If I like Polyphia, what else have I been missing out on?
I totally understand that, I almost didn’t keep watching because Joe is… well, you watched, you know. It’s rough, and it only gets rougher as the show goes on.
Finished the show this morning: if the goal was to make the viewer feel what one of Joe's victims feels over 5 seasons, I think the show does a great job. If that wasn't the goal, I feel like the writing alters Joe's character in a way that feels misaligned with the initial premise of the show.
I don't have a Switch 2/will likely not be able to afford one for the foreseeable future, however WHOA

HOLY SHIT I'M SO EXCITED

Game-scoring/film-scoring friends: I'm looking to try out some new sample libraries and am torn between trying Musio and ComposerCloud. I'm mostly interested in quality orchestral strings and woodwinds. Any recommendations for one over the other?
Thanks so much for the share and the kind words! 🙏
More video game music arranged for big band out today! Here's some wind band-flavored FFX goodness for your weekend: hope you enjoy :)

...okay so now that I've seen a little more of the show, I aggressively retract this statement and would never willingly choose to spend time in one of those things.
