On Monday reception received a special delivery of a mystery egg. We have been asked to look after the egg until it hatches. We have been busy making predictions about what we think is inside the egg. We have also made nests to keep the egg safe. We can’t wait for it to hatch.

This week the whole school has been reading ‘The Forever Bear’, the first of the Stockport Children’s Book Awards books for 2026. Today we joined the author and illustrator online to find out about what inspires them to create books and share stories. Lots of children came away feeling inspired 📚💕
Each class had some new arrivals this week.
We will enjoy watching our caterpillars 🐛 grow over the next few weeks
This week Year 2 completed their Materials science topic with a challenge: to create a shelter that was large enough to fit a plastic bear, strong enough to be windproof and kept the bear dry. The children loved testing their creations and were brilliant at explaining their choice of materials.
Wishing all of our families and staff a peaceful and holy Easter.
We look forward to welcoming you all back to school on Monday 13th April 2026
The Mini Vinnies welcomed a member of our local SVP to school today. Mr Johnson told us all about the things that the adult ‘Bigger Vinnies’ do to help in our community. We made Easter cards to send a little bit of Easter joy and happiness to the elderly and sick in our local community.

Year 1 recreating Stockport viaduct!
Y2 celebrated Lunar New Year today by retelling the story of The Great Race using music and movements, finding out about how the festival is celebrated and creating their own New Year feast from playdough. It looked good enough to eat and the children could explain the significance of every food.
Forest School
Today in Forest school we made bird feeders to feed the birds during the cold weather. We used a pipe cleaner and threaded Cheerios onto it.
We hung our bird feeders in the trees for the birds to find.
Year 2 loved snuggling up with a book for cosy reading day. Sharing books, talking about books, recommending books and reading books are some of our favourite things to do 📚💕 #r4p #readingforpleasure #nationalyearofreading2026
Cosy reading day, we could do this all day! 📚
Dodgeball with Ross, thank you for joining us.
There was a great deal of excitement as the children queued to have their books signed and meet Jon and Nich. There was some amazing book talk in the line and several children stood reading whilst they waited, saying they just couldn’t wait any longer! #nationalyearofreading #readingforpleasure
Y2 had an amazing morning with author illustrator duo Jon Lock and Nich Angell as they told us all about their new graphic novel ‘Tiny Hercules’. The children found out about the plot, learnt a little about how they collaborated on the book and then all had a go at drawing the main character. #r4p
Year 1 loved making bird feeders for our Forest School.
In geography, Year 2 used atlases to explore the different geographical features around the UK 🌍
Reception have been enjoying listening to and reading stories in our Forest school area. #nationalstorytellingweek

The Reading Champions have spent the money from the second hand book sale on books for the library. They chose books from popular series that often disappear from the shelves as well as a couple of new titles. There was excellent teamwork and book knowledge as they made their choices 📚🐛💕
Year 2 started their maths lesson with a shape hunt! They worked hard to remember their learning from year 1 to sort the shapes into 2D and 3D 🔺🔷🔴
Today in science Year 2 learnt all about the 3 basic needs of all living things. Through DEAL they explored a desert island to find the things they needed to survive 🏝️
Today Reception found a crime scene in our outdoor area. We had to be detectives and find out how Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall. This week we will be writing about our ideas.
This morning Year 2 were investigating 2D shapes by creating them from lolly sticks. There was lots of discussion about the number of sides, how many sticks to use and how to check if they had made the right shape. Fantastic investigating!
Welcome to the Disgusting Sandwich Shop! Year 2 have had great fun creating the most disgusting sandwiches. Frogspawn? Maggots? Dirty water? All on the menu and selling out fast!
