Today's critter is this Leachie Gecko at my work that had projectile diarrhea while I was holding it and I managed to jump out of the way and didn't get a drop on me. Sometimes I take the little wins

Why do I insist on doing the most painting when the weather gets nice!!??
I want to lay in a field and bask like a lizard. Get these human feelings of creation and expression out of here. I want my reptilian brain back.

Any other oil painters out there who die a little inside when a painting is drying and mattes out so you can't see the depth or color again until you oil out or varnish it.

Some of my favourite etchings from 2020. I've learned so much since then but never regained the productivity I had during lockdown. Only 2 weeks for a finished etching with 7h of focused work every day, crazy

Today's critter pics brought to you by the High Desert Museum in Bend Oregon.
I got slapped in the face by a turkey vulture and I couldn't be happier.

I think they were planning on putting them up at distilleries around the country. There were 3 other artists involved too. Idk if they got dropped as well

Each barrel top weighs about 15lbs, is unfinished uneven rough wood, and charred on the back since they were intended for whiskey aging. I did 9 of these before giving up and they never reached out about collection. ┐⁠(⁠‘⁠～⁠`⁠;⁠)⁠┌ At least I got paid.

Abandoned project with Makers Mark in 2023. They sent me a dozen barrel tops from their aging barrels to paint.
It was a nightmare as I had to do so much prep work to make the surfaces even remotely paintable.

One of my very few acrylic paintings from the past few years. I miss my abstract metallic squiggle phase.
