AIR FORD NONE: The whole "gravy plane" foofaraw raises a lot of questions. Doug Ford is a guy who built his political brand standing alongside his brother Rob, arguing that it was a horrendous boondoggle for a city councillor to expense something like a coffee machine for their office. Is it possible he didn't anticipate that anyone would raise an eyebrow when he used almost $30 million in taxpayer cash for an aircraft? If he did, why wasn't he prepared to ride out the storm? If he wasn't prepared, what happened to his famous political gut instincts? And in policy terms, presumably Doug Ford and his cabinet thought there was a good cost-benefit case to be made for buying a jet (after all, they bought it), right? So why didn't they make that case to the people rather than immediately backing down at the first sign of a fuss? And where is this jet right now? Are we certain the province can sell it for the same amount it paid? Or is there a chance we're going to lose millions of dollars playing pass-the-title with an asset we never used? So many questions. You probably have even more. Our Queen's Park Bureau Chief is the guy to ask.
