is the milk safe? there's nothing really special to it- and it depends on the pharmacological agents present in the individual, to their milk-to-plasma ratio. cocaine can pass through breast milk, in example. this will harm a baby. domperidone, though? it's fine. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37352416/

in example: a common way of inducing lactation in women is through a gut motility agent called domperidone. domperidone does not cross the blood-brain barrier, but antagonizes dopamine receptors in our gut, to increase gastric emptying. when the body detects this- it nevertheless raises prolactin.

for the same reason people in general can and will lactate from antipsychotics, calcium channel blockers, protease inhibitors, or even opioids / cocaine. lactation happens -after- pregnancy*, not -during- it. after progesterone levels drop, a dopamine-prolactin circuit triggers; you lactate.
