PREACH 🙌🏻
It sucked when I did it and I only started at the Bluff sign!
That wind sounds absolutely savage. Having to do the Bluff hill to finish is particularly cruel!
3 hours without the dot moving. Late drama! 😱
You’d have to say Joe still in the lead but still lots of unknowns for him going into tomorrow. Epic drama!
I bet he’s concerned about the water crossings at the top of the SI that Rufus said were at about max comfort level when he went through. 🫣
Joe’s lucky to make that ferry this evening, wouldn’t fancy his chances tomorrow!
If ever there was a need for fast-track consent, this is it.
It’s not all gondolas and cable cars, some actual active transport options are progressing too once central govt gets the hell out of the way www.odt.co.nz/regions/quee...
Love what Dunedin did, makes that part of George St a place you want to go to. The contrast with the parts of George St that aren’t upgraded is huge!
Cargo bike hot dog stall on Grote Marktstraat in Den Haag
Hot dawg, now that’s what I call a cargo bike! 🌭🌭🌭
A bit of a rebrand for the ODT. It’s great to see we still have independent media voices, which is so important! 👏
Keen to celebrate tonight at our networking event with more than 160 people from businesses keen to be a part of it.
Wow, I didn’t know they covered so much of the South Island! I subscribe mainly for Mountain Scene, but definitely worth the monthly subscription. 👏🏻
Queenstown‘s existing public transport is doing alright too, can work in tandem with other options crux.org.nz/crux-news/bu...
Challenging geography, different use cases (tourists in a ski town), ability to attract investment from private sources for alternative options? Nothing wrong with some innovation to get the job done.
Drury’s gondola plan is solid. Would solve a lot of problems around tourists needing to rent cars to get around once they land. Don’t get distracted by the Whoosh project which seems much less likely to go ahead.
Imagine if instead of providing passenger ferry service we just made everyone own their own small boats. It would be chaos and totally unsafe on days like today. And obviously not everyone could afford one. Plus imagine the dock space required!
But that’s basically what we do with cars 🤣
SMART.
At least a tyre width gap there! 🫣
"Fietsvlonders" are mobile bike platforms designed to turn a car parking spot into urban bike parking. They’re modular, moveable, and cheap, making it easy to test better use of public space. When car storage gets swapped for bikes, entire streets start to feel different.
Need visuals and maps to demonstrate how it would work to get people bought in on the concept. Otherwise it’ll just go on the scrap heap with all the other “ideas”.
That place is such a gem. The attention to detail is 🤌🏻
Ffs 🤦♂️ I hope you reported that plate to the police. I bet they came from Takau St, shouldn’t even give them the ability to squeeze down there.
“The MTA as a whole is averaging 448K more public transit riders per day this year…The MTA ridership growth since congestion pricing went into effect is almost 50% larger than the total ridership of America’s next-largest subway system.” bettercities.substack.com/p/congestion...
Quickly turned into a rat run for taxis and Ubers. 😢
I have video of the exact moment I was completely sold on vibrant cities, streets for people, and active transportation. It happened right here, and I lost all sense of reality. I felt like I was in a movie. This was my urbanist awakening, the moment I turned against car dependency. 👇
Sounds like a bunch of people who can’t or won’t interpret data correctly because it’ll get in the way of their reckons. 🙄
A great example of the benefits of cycle tourism! Similar story to Clyde, Alexandra, Otematata, Twizel, Roxburgh, Naseby, Lawrence…
It’s one of those ones where you always have to hustle to get across. But then it’s also bad to use as a driver too. Good riddance! 💩
