Treating animation as a genre rather than a medium…

The Best Animated Feature category is confusing. I can’t tell if they are supposed to be voting for “movie with best animation” or “most fun movie that happens to be animated”

In general, one cannot underestimate just how difficult it is to gain actual industry and production knowledge without going to school for it when it comes to animation. And even if you do go to college for it, it’s not guaranteed your programme will prepare you enough

I wish I had access to industry standard storyboard/style guides to reference for building my own… one of those things that helps production A TON but is basically impossible to find any good info about

Like you say, if it really is just mo-cap then I suppose no harm in trying, but it does surprise me

Is it really mo-cap? The models are largely consistent, sure, but some of the physics seem really off… and some expressions. I can imagine there was mo-cap involved, but I’m not really buying that AI wasn’t when I watch the trailer
