If it doesn't exist, then do something small, like getting to know your neighbors. Maybe plan a potluck for you and your neighbors to talk about helping each other with issues affecting y'all. No matter how small it is
I usually search for groups that do food rescues, free stores, urban farms,trash pick-up, provide assistance or write to incarcerated people, ICE watch, etc. Whatever I want to help with
I think there's room for both. For me, the awe and wonder of what's out there and the feats of human ingenuity we can accomplish when working together drive me forward. Space exploration inspires me to want to aim higher and see what we can accomplish on Earth
Some days, that's volunteering with a mutual aid group. Some days, that means walking around picking up trash and watching for ICE. And some days that means resting, disconnecting, and taking the time I need to heal. That's what I feel is most important to me right now.
Thanks for all the kind words! I don't know what the future has in store for me (or my career), but I do know where my focus is right now. I am putting my energy into helping my family, my neighbors, my trans siblings, and the land and water we rely on.

Yeah, that was part of it. Florida passed laws that banned Trans people from public bathrooms (like airports, libraries, beaches, etc) and a healthcare ban for trans youth that also impacted access to healthcare for trans adults.

I understand. Tallahassee is separate from the bigots running the state government. I have been to Tally many times, both to talk to legislators during session and also for fun. I grew up in the panhandle and stopped there sometimes when visiting my parents. Fun place to explore
