Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism
in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

I'm not at CHI but I hear that there's expected "oh god what do we do about reviewing, we have had an exponential explosion in paper submissions" discussion.
I think a good start would be to stop making everyone feel like they have to publish 10 first author CHI papers to get a job. :-\

News | MARTA Feasibility Study Exploring Automated Pods | VHB
VHB and MARTA are exploring how automated pods could expand transit options beyond Atlanta’s airport into South Metro communities.
Jesus Christ: VHB is partnering with marta to evaluate how autonomous cars could "provide new mobility to communities" in South Metro Atlanta, including Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the surrounding area.
Atlanta politicians would do anything but expand rail transit:

In contrast to claims that genAI will “augment” creative work, our findings demonstrate the importance of non-use, resistance, and refusal.

At the same time, this non-use required negotiating increasing pressures to engage with genAI from clients, mangers, and creative tools (e.g. Adobe products).

The professional visual artists we surveyed held overwhelmingly negative attitudes toward genAI. In response, most participants actively tried to *not use* genAI as a form of resistance.

Horizontal bar chat showing multiple-choice responses from respondents on the use of, exposure to, and attitude towards generative AI. 85% of respondents never use generative AI in their work, whereas 88% never use image generative AI. 45% of respondents encounter AI-generated images in their practice daily, while 25% do weekly, and 6% never encounter it. The vast majority of respondents dislike generative AI (99%), with 92% expressing a strong dislike.
How are professional visual artists dealing with generative AI in the workplace? In our #CHI2026 poster, @hhj14.bsky.social, @willie-agnew.bsky.social and I share results from a survey of 378 verified professional visual artists 🧵

Excited to be presenting "How Professional Visual Artists are Negotiating Generative AI in
the Workplace" as a poster at CHI! We surveyed 378 visual artists. They *hate* generative AI (92% strong dislike, 99% dislike), but are facing pressure from bosses to use it. arxiv.org/pdf/2603.04537

How India’s Ruling Party is Using AI to Boost Hate Speech
Bellingcat found 31 posts by the BJP that appeared to feature AI-generated images, along with either anti-immigrant or anti-Muslim hate speech, in Assam and West Bengal within a month.
Bellingcat found 31 posts with AI-generated imagery shared on social media by India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam and West Bengal in December that appeared to meet the United Nations’ definition of hate speech. www.bellingcat.com/news/2026/03...

First look: New vision for Beltline project Murphy Crossing emerges
Agency reports “big milestones” complete, with onsite work ahead along Westside Trail in Oakland City
This is absurd: after plans with @culdesac.bsky.social (which is building out a car-free neighborhood in Tempe, Arizona) fell through, Atlanta BeltLine officials are now planning to build only 625 residential units but 1,711 parking spaces at Murphy Crossing next to the BeltLine and marta heavy rail

The people who cancelled Jimmy Kimmel after Charlie Kirk's assassination will now control television stations that reach 80% of Americans, twice that what was legally allowed before Trump's takeover.
The state capture of network television is almost complete.

This is so so upsetting. So Grammerly is violating the memory of bell hooks AND making AI versions of the rest of us before we're even dead. Someone tell me who to sue, not even joking.

‘Age Verification’ could force trans people to out themselves to use the internet
Automated online ID checking systems add new potential dangers to having a mismatching ID.
New for @theverge.com: i wrote about how Kansas' trans ID law and the "age verification" systems popping up everywhere tie into larger efforts to force trans people to out themselves both IRL and online

We find that the development of LAP reflects the biases we from our audit. The images and aesthetic ratings used to train LAP primarily come from English-speaking photographers in 2012 and western AI-enthusiasts in 2022. (4/5)

We find that LAP perpetuates longstanding biases within western art history, favoring images of (1) women over men or LGBTQ+ people, (2) western and Japanese art over Native American, African, West Asian, Islamic, or Oceanic art, and (3) figurative, realistic art over abstract art. (3/5)

The LAION-Aesthetics Predictor (LAP) is widely used to curate training data for visual generative AI models (e.g., Stable Diffusion) and evaluate the “quality” of AI-generated images. By combining an audit with a trace ethnography, we examined both the behavior and development of LAP. (2/5)
