The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.

I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).

So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

I'm not at CHI but I hear that there's expected "oh god what do we do about reviewing, we have had an exponential explosion in paper submissions" discussion.

I think a good start would be to stop making everyone feel like they have to publish 10 first author CHI papers to get a job. :-\

In contrast to claims that genAI will “augment” creative work, our findings demonstrate the importance of non-use, resistance, and refusal.

At the same time, this non-use required negotiating increasing pressures to engage with genAI from clients, mangers, and creative tools (e.g. Adobe products).

The professional visual artists we surveyed held overwhelmingly negative attitudes toward genAI. In response, most participants actively tried to *not use* genAI as a form of resistance.

We find that the development of LAP reflects the biases we from our audit. The images and aesthetic ratings used to train LAP primarily come from English-speaking photographers in 2012 and western AI-enthusiasts in 2022. (4/5)

We find that LAP perpetuates longstanding biases within western art history, favoring images of (1) women over men or LGBTQ+ people, (2) western and Japanese art over Native American, African, West Asian, Islamic, or Oceanic art, and (3) figurative, realistic art over abstract art. (3/5)
