This is a valid point: whenever you see this sort of high-pressure sales tactic turned on a technology, you can be CERTAIN that it's a fake—actually useful new tech sells itself!
And don't underestimate the effectiveness of FOMO as a tool in the hands of a con artist.

Lots of people are correctly pointing out how this broadly true of any skill and profession.
It makes me wonder if the people pushing AI the most are so incompetent that they don't understand how people become competent. Or if their jobs really do not require skill.
I've seen people trying to defend it today by saying "No, no, I just use it to brainstorm, bounce ideas, I do the actual writing" and with all the kindness in the world I need to tell you: if there is a stage of writing you are not good at, you need to get good, not use the plagiarism machine.
This guy like "I've always wanted to be a marathoner, but I didn't want to run long distances. But now, with the help of this handy SUV, I'm crossing finish lines like there's no tomorrow! 😁"
